I would without a doubt get the Drone Mobile. Just being able to check and see if you really did lock the doors after you just went through airport security is worth it. Plus all the other handy features on it. It can notify you if your truck has been messed with no distance limitations. I would much rather have the drone over long range 2-way remotes. Long range remotes won’t reach the parking lot from my office but the Drone will simply because we have a cellular repeater in the building. The RPS is cool but I honestly don’t use it much. I don’t have the ultra sonic sensors (yet) so I can’t comment on those.

You know, when you go do some shopping and park, there will certainly be someone who pass near your truck only to reach their own vehicle. Your system will issue a warning, then another. When I installed my Viper SmartStart system, I chose not to install them based on the installer advice.

The best installer in Portland qouted me 1600 including the T11, DAS sensor, 4 ultrasonic sensors, and the remote start + Labor.

Think it's worth doing?

Having installed all that myself: YES. YES DO IT.

That's actually a really good price, and it is well worth the piece of mind.

You know, when you go do some shopping and park, there will certainly be someone who pass near your truck only to reach their own vehicle. Your system will issue a warning, then another. When I installed my Viper SmartStart system, I chose not to install them based on the installer advice.

The Compustar DAS has the tilt/bump sensor built in. It is much more effective than you think. I actually turned my down because I was setting it off on accident.

I'm doing the DAS and the ultrasonic sensors, there's overlap in capability for sure, but the sensors help if someone takes a swing at the glass.

The installer did suggest they'll tune the settings, because it's a lifted truck, so that it wouldn't go off if wind moved the vehicle.

The biggest thing I asked of them is to build two security presets, one where all alarms are on, and one where just the outside alarms are on (i.e no tilt sensor or ultrasonics) that way if I have the windows cracked and my dog in the back she can move around without her setting it off.

But you're totally right, when you factor in it's at least 7-8 hours of labor, it's a good install price. And if I've learned anything is that doing a quality install with wiring from the start is worth it.

I'm not tricking my brain into thinking that this makes the vehicle safe. It doesn't. It makes it SAFER than the stock security system. If people really want your stuff, they'll get your stuff, all you can do is make things more effort than their worth to steal.

No security system is complete with an ADT security sticker in a visible location...say..your wind fairing? :biggrin1:

This weekend I get to swap the center tunnel, tunnel cover, radio/head unit, swap wiring for HAM radio, install a few things, drill some holes, etc.

And then Monday I drop it off to be re-wrapped over the course of the week, window re-tinted, and then alarm installed. And then it's frigging finished as far as this summer goes.

Yeesh...what a goddamn ordeal.

Interior is back together minus a few things:
- I need to buy a replacement fire extinguisher
- Install RAM mount for the iPad setup

The vehicle is off being re-wrapped and re-tinted this week and an alarm put in next week.

The vehicle battery was very low before it was broken into, and i guess it went flat, and the body shop would jump it each day to bring it into the shop for safe keeping each night.

The result is that the Odyssey Group 31 (main battery) might be shot. So insurance should hopefully pay for a new one.

Yeesh.

I've only had it for a day, less than that, it's nice so far. The shop that wired it up is going to make a few tweaks in a few weeks, as right now there's no way to disable the ultrasonic sensors.

They just have to wire it slightly differently because what I want is the ability to turn off the interior sensors if I have a window cracked or if the dog is sleeping inside. Right now if you sneeze it detects any movement due to air pressure and the alarm fires off.

This is essentially how the F150's alarms work, there's an interior set of alarms, and an exterior set.

Well, it's all put back together. All it needs now is the Pelfrey rear in a few weeks when I putt down to SoCal to get it and do some photography on the vehicle.

I did have a few opportunities to improve things on the build, nothing major.

But I moved the HAM radio to a RAGO Fab bracket I asked them to build for me, and helped design, because the Pelfreybilt bumper sits a lot lower, so the antenna would have to be otherwise too long for my liking.

I also installed a WeBoost 4G-X Cellular Booster in the 4Runner, because I spend a lot of time driving out in eastern oregon.

And I swapped from an ARB 47 fridge/freezer to the Dometic CFX-50W.

Obviously it got some new electronics, but the big one was the Compustar 7-Series alarm, with ultrasonic sensors. Having remote start is pretty damn cool I'll admit.

Who did your alarm? I am looking to have one installed too. I really like Stereo King in Hillsboro, but it seems Outrageous Audio is the only one who really knows Compustar very well.
