Hi everyone.....I've been a long time lurker of the forums and I have also owned previous 4 by 4 vehicles before( 1970 fj40... jeepss...ect)

Now I finally am getting around to doing stuff to the 4runner so I'll be posting stuff here for your amusement!

Before......

Ill be picking up a rolls rola rack with drop brackets tomorrow and next week I'll be trimming the front body mounts and store of the bumper like I like the look of more clearance......well llllll....that's all for now!

So....apparently I cant see my own images at work (and Im here for the next 8 hrs...)

Does this seem to jive with what I have for specs on my alignment?:

"IMHO what you want is a touch of negative camber (which should be easy) and fairly equal (R to L). I consider it to be ok if the L side number is a hair closer to zero than the right. It'll equal out with the drivers weight and full fuel, speaking of that get it aligned with around 1/2 a tank.

-The toe-in should not be near zero even though that's "within spec". It needs a touch of toe-in for stability.

-The caster should be the highest positive value (within spec) they can achieve AND be equal. So, what will happen is they'll need to determine which side can achieve the least amount of positive caster and then match the other side to it."

The reason I ask is now I am getting ALOT of rubbing after my alignment that I didn't have before.

So I found the source of what was rubbing.....the front fender well so I cut it out some more....i also removed the running boards.......

I also picked up the Rola rack with drop mounts and weather tech mats

Now I'm waiting on the rack extension....now I have to figure out what I'm going to paint the rack with.

Still waiting on the stupid extension....

Trimmed up the fenders a little more and changed the front and rear diff oil.....the back was a grey sludge....

I've also got some aftermarket upper control arms being sent to me!

Coming along nicely.. that diff oil doesn't look too bad. When I bought mine, it was far worse than that.. What oil did you go with? Oh and any vids or pics of your FJ?

Thanks man.....yea I should haven taken a pic of the rear, that one was bad.....the front wasn't awful......also go to grease up all he zerk fittings.

I used the mobile 1, 75/90w synthetic.....man that stuff starts to get expensive....I was going to do royal purple....but it was $21 a qt.....whew.

Yea here are some pics of the rig......I miss the diesel, that thing was a beast......but I just didn't want to drive it in the rust belt......but it was the first Toyota I ever owned :).

I see you've owned a Wrangler unlimited....how would you compare the 4runner to it? I went from a two door tj to my runner and it was a huge step up IMO but the the new jeeps seem to be really nice. Just curious what you like/dislike about both in regards to each other. Oh and the 4runners coming along great!

Thought I replied back.....stupid iPad haha.

I like the unlimited, it was comfy for a wrangler but it didn't really feel like a "wrangler" if you know what I mean. It was nice and new....but it had less features than my 2003 4runner. I also love having he v8 though the new eng/tans combination was pretty peppy with the stock setup.

Finally got the extension in. Put the rack on today...changed the spark plugs and picked up a SG2.

The plugs didn't really look all that bad.

Update....

So here is my current update!

I installed the FJ springs, Bilstein 5100s and the Camburg UCAs.

I also cleaned the throttle body....man was that thing dirty.

....and of course nothing is easy.....went to get the alignment and the tabs were bent flat. They were bent back and a bead dropped behind it. I also got under the truck and with the angle grinder hit all the rust I could and put some preventative on.

Oh.....also waiting for some new metal tech sliders :D

Well

Its been quite awhile since I've updated this......I have been browsing and posting here and there though!

Sooo.......whats new:

- Updated 06+ headlight & taillights - LED replacements all around.
- Installed CBI ditch-light brackets w/ Rigid Duallys.
- Installed a Black Oak 42'' curved combo light bar with custom mount.
- Installed reverse lights on the roof rack.
- Installed Metaltech OPOR sliders

Going on sometime this week:
- TOYTEC HEAVY DUTY 2.5 coils on Bilsteins w/ Toytec 1/2 spacer
- Metaltech 3 inch coils with Icon 'long-travel' 2.0 shocks.
- Metaltech extended bump stops.
- New headlights ordered (the lenses I have is crap) which I will likely retrofit.
- Received used control arms I will prep with paint and new bushings and swap out old ones with (thanks blackoutt !)

I want a new set of wheels now.....!
