LCA bushings shot <10k miles

Sorry to scare you! I'm ordering the TC LCAs today and gonna try to make it up there next week or the one after. I've had a tough go from the beginning with this brand new suspension. I feel I can only blame myself because I didn't listen to some of the more experienced guys here.

Let us know how the TC LCAs work out! Which ones are you getting?

I'm probably going to go with the stock replacement size version. Talked with LT at MetalTech for awhile today and he said the LT setup is a) very expensive, and b) possibly not completely worthwhile.

There are also "race series" higher clearance, lightweight versions but the TC website says you have to run 1.25" wheel spacers. I need to look into this and see if the 4.3" BS on the SCS-6's will suffice without running wheel spacers. I feel like 1.25" wheel spacers is a pretty big spacer; I find it surprising that TC would manufacture these and require such a big spacer--- but then again they are "race series".

Anyway, aside from that... could anyone with a 2013 or anything with lower than, say, 20k miles, please post a video of their LCA bushings when they are doing a stop-and-go maneuver? I'm going to try and get a video up tonight or maybe tomorrow of mine for comparison.

Just go with the stock replacement. They will be more then adequate for what 90% of us do with our trucks.

Post them up when they are on.

Here's a video of me TRYING to capture the movement. You can clearly see it on the driver side when the brakes are released and the worn bushing allows it to slide. The problem is more pronounced on the passenger side but I couldn't capture it well on video. Definitely not the best video...

After 2:45 my roommate and I are talking about the groan I get if you don't depress the brake really firmly when shifting between D and R. Does anyone else have this? I have had it way before I got the suspension installed.

You did a pretty good video job,That does look like a lot of movement to me.

Note : The "groan" is the brakes and is normal.

When my brakes were wet (offroading) this past weekend, they were groaning like crazy. It stopped when they were clean and dry again on the way home and since.

Not sure how "normal" I would call it, but it's likely within engineering specs. :cell: :noidea:

Okki

Thanks for the replies guys.

Could someone with a stock suspension with <20k miles please do a similar video so I can compare the movement? I definitely agree it seems like a lot of movement and appears to be the source of my sound as well.

its hard to tell from that video. but as said above, new/good bushings will move also. I see it just about daily here at the shop.

if the bushing is intact, and still connected, id say its good.

The backspacing on those wheels won't be equivalent to running a 1.25" spacer. I ran the 1.25" spacer with stock wheels and thought about taking them off when I went to the SCS, but it wouldn't have given the same amount of poke. Combining the Stealth 6 with 1.25" spacers looks pretty sweet but will give you more rubbing to correct and cause extra wear on your wheel bearings.

Man, now I want TC lower arms. How about you buy them and I'll send you my stock lower arms in exchange for them? :D No? Well, it was worth a try...
