Leather seats! Pics inside

Hi Folks I wanted to some opinions. I got the Katzkin leather put in the 4 runner last Friday. It looks awesome but there is one thing that is kind of annoying and that is the leather is about 1 shade off from the leather on the doors. How does it look to you all? Would you take it back?

Looks good to me!! I had leather put in my 13 Trail last March. Place my dealer uses puts Roadwire leather in. The leather reminds me of the Dakota Leather in past BMWs.

Post the whole interior shot, without the flash and all that. I am REEEEALLY OCD about stuff and the very very slight color difference on yours would not bother me at all.

Looks good, not great, but good. I would be happy with it and I am picky also. I doubt anyone else will notice. :reddance:

It looks fine, IMO.

Is the "leather from the doors" the vinyl that came in the truck or the leather (likely still not leather) produced by Katzkin? If it's what was already on there, you shouldn't be surprised it is different. If it was from Katzkin, I think you'd have room to complain.

Also, just wondering, how much did you pay? I got a quote here for $1300 plus tax (no 3rd row) and was just considering doing myself as I'd save about $400.

Hi Nol the leather on the doors is what came with the SR5 when I bought it. It cost $1300.00 plus tax and I have a third row.

It looks fine. You can barely tell.

I just finished putting katzkin in my wife's 4th gen this weekend (went with dark graphite color). This is the 3rd vehicle I've put katzkin in. I put it in my Tundra last year after I bought the truck. Also put it in my '07 Tacoma I used to have before the Tundra. I also installed heated seat inserts, now I'm thinking I want to put heated seats in my Tundra as well. For $47 off amazon, you can't beat it. The katzkin kit cost me $700 off amazon and I've installed it myself all 3 times. If anyone is interested in buying it, I can send you the email address of the company who sells it and they can custom order whatever you want direct from katzkin. They'll send you a link via amazon to place the order. Both times, my order has been custom made by katzkin and turnaround time was less than 48 hours for katzkin to make it and ship it out.

These look really good. Better than wet okole IMO. How is the install? Does it install over the cloth or do you remove the cloth and then install the leather?

You remove the factory cloth covers.

Install isn't very difficult to be honest, just a little time consuming. Anyone with a couple ounces of mechanical knowledge can do it. Be prepared to have some sore hands and a few cuts on your fingers if you're not careful. The metal seat frames can have some pretty sharp edges in places if you don't watch out.

You'll need a basic screw driver set, ratchet set (10mm, 12mm, and 14mm), a panel popper/clip remover tool (not 100% needed, just useful), hog ring pliers (got mine at tractor supply), some hog rings (also purchased at tractor supply), zip ties (easier to use in some places instead of hog rings), and fresh sharp razor blades.

There's a few you tube videos you can watch. Also, when you disassemble the old seats, you'll see how they're put together.

Feel free to PM me as well. I've installed 3 sets of them now so I have a pretty good understanding at this point. First time I ever did it was on my tacoma, it took me about 6 hours to do the seats, then another 2-3 hours to figure out the door panel inserts. With the Tundra and the 4runner, my strategy was to do one seat per night during the week after work. For example, this past week on the 4runner, I did the back seat bottom on Tuesday night, the back seat back on wednesday, passenger seat thursday, Driver's seat friday, and door panel inserts saturday, and did the final wiring on the heated seats Sunday afternoon.

Here's a couple threads from TacomaWorld I put together:
Re-did my leather armrests today. Learn from my mistake - Tacoma World Forums
Installed the leather this weekend. - Tacoma World Forums

I also have a few pics from the Tundra install and a few from the 4runner install (4th gen).

Sorry for the thread hijack lol
