LED grille lights - Add a fuse using the tail light / side marker fuse

Hey guys, I'm going to be installing the amber LED lights in the grille and am going to use the under hood fuse box method. Was going to use the 10A INJ fuse so they are on when the ignition was on but then thought I'd rather have them come on when the parking / side marker lights are on. So I'm assuming I simply put the add a fuse into the 10A tail lights fuse that also powers the parking / side marker lights? Thanks

I don't have experience with it but it makes sense to me that it'd work. I don't have anything real valuable I guess lol. I'm just commenting so I can see what someone with true experience says. I'd be interested in the same for our rig.

It's not uncommon to use the fuse box to control your lights. Just make sure you find away to make that fuse box is dust proof after you run wires to the fuse box.

I don’t feel like going through the firewall and also having the fuse box cover off in the cab. I saw some videos on using the engine bay fuse box with the advantage of being able to replace the cover. Just haven’t seen anyone use the tail light marker light fuse.

Easiest way would be to use a splice connector to tap the marker wires on the headlights.

+1 on this method. I spliced and soldered in a relay. Now it all lights up together. Works out real well as they are lined up across nicely. Positive from the headlights activates relay while the actual power is from the battery. Used a waterproof connector in the event I need to remove the front grill. The relay is overkill imo. The LEDs use so little current that it won’t even come close to affecting the bulb your tapping into.

Thanks, but I’d rather not tap into the wiring on my brand new 4R. I figured the fuse method would be the simplest and least intrusive.

I was hesitant to go through the firewall, but it's so easy and non-intrusive I can't think of any reason not do to it this way. Having the open fuse panel inside isn't a big deal. That being said, check out this thread with pics and info

I like the idea of adding the waterproof connector though. Good idea.

EDIT: Scratch that, they are tapping into the fuel injection system, no bueno. Sounds like everything in the hood fuse box is always hot.
