LED Interior Lighting

I'm sure this will bring the obligatory "use the search function" reply. Especially since it is just my second post. But I am really struggling to find a post I think I have seen before. I remember seeing a list of LED replacement bulbs for the stock interior lighting (map lights, courtesy lights, etc), as well as the exterior courtesy lights (under mirror, and under door). Could someone point me in the direction of that thread... maybe a link?

This may put me in the idiot category but I have also struggled to find readily usable information on what lighting configurations work, what are to bright, what to avoid, etc... The search function here populates so many threads that aren't applicable that it makes itself useless.

Ironically I found good info by just going to google and typing what I wanted to know, which did lead me back to certain threads on this site.

So colors and lumens aside, Kbcarstuff.com allows you to put in your year/make/model and select LEDs based on the light to be replaced, ie dome, door, etc and it tells you the light type, so 194 or 3022.

I would still like some feedback from this site about what color range works and how many lumens are too little or too much.
 
Thanks. I think I remember seeing that "Cool White" was a good color for all the interior lighting. I'm going to run up to the local ORielly's to see what they have on hand. I'll update if I find any useful information there.

typically: "cool white" will be ~6500K... think cold, fluorescent lighting; "natural white" will be ~5000K... think "warm(er) fluorescent" lighting. "warm white" will be ~2400K, which is closer to having an incandescent light quality. "good" is all subjective, depending on what you prefer.

personally, i have "warm white" in the vanity mirrors, "amber" in the map lights (doesn't blow out your night vision) and "cool white" bulbs in the doors with "cool white" LED panels in the dome and hatch.

Just one more question I guess... about the LED panels. Are those something that you got from SuperBright also?

GrantK, do not mean to sound stupid but for the interior changeout, dome, side and rear door panels with map lights are they a direct changeout? Is there anything else that needs to be changed?

I didn't mod anything, just pulled the stock bulbs and put the new LEDs in their place. For the rear dome and lift-gate, I went with a panel instead of Festoon (tubular) type bulb and they even had an adapter for that that plugged right in. If you want to stay with Festoon style, they have LED that drop right in. Changing the front map lights can be a little tricky so just take your time.

The exterior lights require some nimble fingers so once again, take your time, note how the connectors come loose, make sure the light is working before your put it back in the reflector. The front parking lights were the most stubborn.

Last thing, many LEDs are polarized so check if the don't work, just turn them around 180 degrees or end-for-end.
