LED lighting

Okay,

So after reading threads and getting confused more than a few times, I think I have settled on what I want to order to start out for my '97.

From autoillumination.com,
3 Blue TriPower #74's
3 Blue SMT Tower #194's (W5W 2825)

If anyone could verify if I sound like I am on the right track, it'd be appreciated :)

I added this to Fo_Sheezy's thread, but it is worth adding here as well.

Another option for LED dome light modules are the ones I have from TaskLED. They are completely plug-n-play; take the old bulb out, and put one of these in.

They utilize a constant current driver circuit running at 350mA, so there is very little chance of harming the LED during its lifetime. They currently use a single HIGH-powered Seoul ZLED brand LED (Cree die), which runs at about 60 Lumens, so they are VERY bright. Also, this guy is a Land Cruiser enthusiast, so "part of the family" so to speak.

I love them! I'm also looking at some of the 25 led High Powered SMT Array replacements from autolumination.com for my map lights (Ba9s bulbs). The 25 led unit is supposed to be their brightest one, not the 48 led unit, as the 25 LED unit uses larger, brighter LEDs (according to their e-mail reply to my question).
 
Led on door window switch

Hey,

you guys are doing a GREAT job with led replacements. I have a questions. On the limiteds (I have 2k), the front driver/front passenger window switch has the AUTO light when you turn on the headlights. My pass side on the driver's door is out.
Is that a led or how would I find out?
I took it to the dealer and they had no idea what I was talking (BUNCH OF DUMMIES!!)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It takes about a minute or two to pop out that panel in the door and open it up to where the bulb is at. If I remember correctly it was an LED but it had two wires on it and it plugged into a green piece that looked like a computer chip. I wanted to change mine to blue but I haven't had any luck yet.

I would have to look to double check, but I'm pretty sure the passenger window switch in the driver's door does NOT light up. (I have a 99 limited)

Also, I went ahead and ordered some of the LED matrix lights from autolumination to replace my maplights. High Powered SMT LED Array bulb replacements

What they initially told me via e-mail about brightness was wrong. They now say the 48 LED unit produces 175 Lumens, and the 25 LED unit produces 125 Lumens. The 25 LED unit is more efficient and each LED produces more light, but overall the 48 LED unit is still brighter. However, the 25 LED unit will probably be more reliable in the long run due to its simpler design (less LEDs).

I ordered one of each, and I'll decide which one I like best for the map light. The one I like less will go in the trunk of my other car. I'm going to replace the passenger side with a white LED matrix, and then do the driver's side with a red LED matrix.

These LED matrix bulb replacements emit light in all directions, so the driver's/pannsenger's switches really don't matter so much anymore. When you turn it on, the light goes EVERYWHERE! Now I can have white when I just plain want to see, and red when I don't want to lose my night vision. (or for when I want to set the mood; How you doin') :love: :yesyes:

Yep. Both switches (AUTO) light up but now only the drivers works.

I would advise putting 2 or 3 LED's in each slot- be sure to lightly sand your LED if its clear-spreads out the light more evenly
I need to adjust the LED's so they deflect more, the lighting is uneven. and I have yet to do the ones in the climate control

That's weird.. you shouldn't have to solder them into the socket.. you should just be able to pull the bulb out and put the new one in. That's the way my gauges worked...

brian will the bulb you just posted work for the dash lighting on my '01?

all i will need is 3 of the blue ones correct?

lol, have fun with the key ring =P if all sorts of difficult to get out.


but I bought my LED's as actual components, not the fully assembled bulbs like the ones being displayed above.
