LED's in doors

I searched and cannot find any threads that go into detail :

I ordred WLED-WHP9-T for my door puddle lights, but once I remove the plastic back housing over the stock bulb and put in the WLED-WHP9-T the bulb is too long to put the housing back over it. Has everyone who used this bulb just left the plastic back piece off?

The bulbs at the bottom of your door (not the puddle lamps) are the same bulbs as your map and vanity mirror lights.

while it is a tight fit(with the kit from amazon) they do fit in place. just takes some careful wiggling and they will slide in. just don't force them. now getting them out on the other hand...

- I understand the stock bulb is the same stock bulb as in the map light.
- I have already read through all the threads posted and cannot find the answer to the question I am asking.
- The part number for the bulb I bought from superbrightled's is the bulb most people appear to have used (WLED-WHP9-T).
- I am not asking about a bulb other then the WLED-WHP9-T

The question is, for those that used the WLED-WHP9-T :

The plastic housing over the back of the bulb will not fit with the loinger WLED bulb. Did you just leave it off, or did you modify the housing some way?

I used the 15 smd led which is the same size and it barely fit. It touches the housing but it fits. If it really doesn't fit, just leave the back off.

I used a different bulb but with the same issue, too long.
I trimmed the clip-on bulb back cover with a Dremel tool to make it fit

I've actually installed WLED-WHP10 in the door puddle lights, same length as the WHP9.. Search for ROBSCOOL writeup for the puddle lights. I followed his thread, and the bulbs fit perfectly. My bulbs came from Superbright LED.

I had the same issue with the bulb being too long. Actually two bulbs started to smoke when I put the cover back on then started to flicker. I took them out and stuck with the oem bulbs in the doors.

My terminology is wrong, I dont meant the lights in the mirrors, I mean the one at the bottom of the door. Looks like ROBSCOOLs thread is about the mirror ones

i used the same WLED-WHP5 bulbs i used in my map lights in my doors. (map lights are amber; doors are white.)

i bought a couple of the 9-T size too, but wanted to retain the plastic housing so didn't use them. i believe folks have used them without issues, however.

Got sidetracked working on my mother in laws computer and building another and didn't have time to grab the pic. I will get one today, tried just a minute ago with my computer tools but don't have anything to pry them loose without marring the door panel.

Here is a pic of the housing separated into the two pieces. They do fit, its snug but the second piece will slide down over the bulb and you can reinstall. Just make sure to put the bulb light end side on first and then it will slide over easier. From the pic, the bottom part's shorter end goes toward the plug and the longer end has a circle cut out of it to allot for larger bulbs to bump up to it. Start that end first so the bulb will sit in the circle as the shorter end clips in. Hope this helps.

thanks for posting...looks like my bulb is bigger then yours. I think I will have to either leave the housing off or dremel it out...or get smaller bulbs
