Just noticed that my left rear door (rear passenger door on the driver's side) no longer locks/unlocks when I hit the power door lock button inside the vehicle or use the alarm to lock/unlock the vehicle. I put my ear up to the door and hear no noise from that door panel indicating the power door lock is still functional. FYI: it's a 2003 SR5. Any suggestions?

You may need to open the door panel. Maybe the wire is loose or disconnected somehow.

I had 2 go bad in my 03, you can get new door lock actuators on ebay for around $150

In my case it was extremely accurate, with soon meaning under 3 months for the rest to fail, one at a time of course.

Before you spend mega chedd on new solenoids, take the door panel off and make sure the lock/unlock cable is snapped into its appropriate place. Its a ball and socket fit. my back passenger door came out one time and wouldnt lock or unlock and this solved my problem.

I know this thread is old but I just purchased a 05 4runner sport edition v8 with the rear left door actuator not working and was wondering what I would need to fix it. Just ordered the part but new to working on these vehicles and would prefer to save some money since I'm a college student. Any help would be much appreciated!

ronjon13 That blog post I made a while ago still works. I was able to find the repair manual online and used that as well. Unfortunately I am unable to attach that to this reply or to my blog post. I did some quick looking around but could not find a free download for a 2005. I did find it for sale on Rock Auto 2005 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 4.7L V8 Repair Manual | RockAuto
I hear there is not much difference so you could probably use the free 2003 manual to replace that actuator. The following link still seems to work.

I recently replaced my right rear door lock actuator as well and took pictures for a writeup. I got the actuator from Actuator Plus on ebay for $60 after shipping. They're rebuilt with Toyota parts and have a lifetime warranty when you send in the core

edit: I see that you already ordered the part, but the writeup will still be helpful. It was pretty easy and I'm a college student on a budget as well. I do recommend the harbor freight panel clip pliers, they were pretty helpful for removing the door panels. See writeup for full details

Yes, this. Same thing happened to mine. Was a very easy fix.
I took things a little further....
For 22 bucks I bought four DC motors off of eBay. I then replaced the internal motor of each door lock actuator.......still have to do the rear doors.
It's a bit involved, but if you have a workbench.....and go slowly......you can save a bunch of money.
