I want something between my truck and the rock crawler(it technicly belongs to a buddy who built it). Eventually straight axled but for now I just want to get it going. I also am on limited funds so I'm going to keep track. As a newb at this I am curious about cost as other newbs. Something wrong with the engine. Something is wrong with the left cam. This has a build date of 1989 which leads me to think it's got the R150F trans. I've got half a mind to put a 22r in it.

The back fender and one door are the only two rust spots. Tires are good. Driveline is good. All plastics are broken from windows down. Carpet isn't salvageable and the wiring is an absolute mess. Lots of modification lol.

Off to figure out what engine to put in this. A 22r and 5 speed would be nice. I can pick up a beat up truck for under a grand.

Total cost this far...$250 (it's got no title but I've got a plan for that)

I'll have to get it retitled. It takes like 6 months. It irritates me with lost titles and such. Ky is so easy title wise to transfer. If whatever drive train I go with works I can use it for this one. It has a title. The white one is on great shape less the engine. The maroon one is the Guinea pig.

Are you in KY?

I've had to get duplicates from the courthouse and Frankfort when I couldn't find them. It only took a few weeks. So it shouldn't be hard for a seller to get one.

If the seller is in KY, the signed and notarized title will do. Easy.

Now bring in a car from out of state, and it ain't so easy. Together with the title, you need a KY title app form and BOTH have to be signed and notarized. A BOS is only acceptable in lieu of a title if it is legal in the state the vehicle is coming from for transferring.

I sent my county clerk herself going through the rulebooks to title my '69 GMC. It came from GA and a BOS is legal for vehicles past a certain age there. Fortunately she sent it on- but only because the seller had the truck registered in his name. I sweated a little for few weeks there until my title came in the mailbox.

Wow. That is pretty harsh on the 22R...

But I agree. Installing a 22R would probably be going in the wrong direction.

I agree here, the 22R would be backwards in this case. Plus i personally have never had any luck with any of the 22R or RE motor's.

I am in KY. Turns out this was last titled in NC. They are no help. I'll call Frankfort next week and get the process going on having a KY title built.

I like the 22r but got to thinking about it. I really want the gm platform. They are cheap and I know them. I also know what swaps with what.

Got this blazer and tore it apart. Got the frame cleaned. I did test it before I tore it down. It's been sitting for years and hasn't been tagged since 95. A little fresh gas and it fired right up.

I did not get the white one. Had a financial issue arise.

Due to a half ass body lift there wasnt much to take apart.

I went though the wheel wells. The rears are rusted and the front fenders were already bent.

Its looks horrible at the moment. The body is just kinda sitting on the frame. I have to cut out more on the firewall and some under the rear seat. I want the body daily flush with the frame.

The from frame horns will stick out a bit. They will be covered up with the winch in the future. The back tire will be centered in the opening and the front will be a little further forward than stock.

I've still got a bunch of piddly stuff before I can really start going back together. I had the body on and off the frames a couple times. Didnt break glass and doors never got out of whack. As I was pushing back to its resting spot out of the driveway it bounced back and i caught the windshield with the spear on the tractor.

I dont like the current state of sloppiness with it but I know that will change.

Forgot to show the gutting process. The heater under the armrest was kinda neat. A custom dash and wiring will be going back in.

Busy weekend. Still need to get thr body center and booted down. I am hoping to be able to get the core support about 2" lower. Its weird seeing it with leaf springs on all 4 corners. This week hopefully I can get everything trimmed and the body mounted.

Everything is just sitting in place at the moment. Surely someone else can Invision what I see. It's to the point not that things start going together. I'm still not sure how I am going to do body mounts but I at least want to start the metal work in the cab where I cut the firewall to clear the 350.

Why didn't you just fix the body mounts on the toyota chassis and swap everything over? Trying to keep it cheap?

I am keeping it cheap. Want to see how little I can spent making a decent trail rig. I swapped frames because I did not want to buy or fab engine and trans mounts, mess with drive shafts, or mess with a SAS on the 4runner. Everything was already done on the blazer frame.

Did some cleaning up around the yard and cleaned the inside. Tons of dirt, mud, and grit from trimming the firewall. Next I will work on filling what I've cut out and then to wiring.

Cost this far ...
$500 for the 4runner
$500 for the blazer
-$125 for scrapping the blazer body
-$125 for the 4runner engine
-$150 for the random blazer parts I sold
-$50 for the random 4runner parts I've sold
$30 for the metal to rebuilt the firewall

My rivets are to short so ill have to get more before I can do the firewall.

I wanted to get something done so I cut the monstrosity of a hitch off and put the tailgate on.
