You CAN swap the front coils while keeping the XREAS system intact... I did it myself. I ran FJ coils with 1/2" Toytec spacers up front and FJ coils in the rear for a 2/1 lift that sat pretty level. This is how it sat...



With your XREAS having that many miles, it would be a good time to go with the Bilsteins... the XREAS shocks are pretty short anyway, especially the rear so raising it really doesn't leave much down-travel. I used to lift one or the other rear tire off the ground constantly while off-roading. By the way, the FJ coils were a nice upgrade for the money.

Can I keep the same spacers and use different coils or even just replace the spacers with bigger coils? I'm kind of stuck in the middle on what to do, I know the xreas is a ***** to fix when it goes bad

You should probably just leave it as it is IMO.

Well I would like it leveled and I'm pretty sure my suspension is pretty much done. Any big bump I get a very loud boom on the back almost sounds like the body of my car is crushing something back there. I'm looking into the bilstein 3 inch lift suspension kit.

I removed my XREAS, when I installed my Toytec Ultimate lift and I cannot see how you could have pulled that off without disconnecting the hydraulic lines from the shocks, thereby compromising the entire system. I basically hung the struts in the wheel wells, used a set of Craftsman spring compressors, and disassembled the struts. I put the FJ coils on with the springs compressors, reassembled the struts, and remounted them. A little cumbersome at times, but it was pretty straight forward. I dropped the LCA completely out of the way for as much room as possible. I don't think that I have any pics of the process, but I'll look.

Got the car on flat ground today and had shocks looked at. The measurements are different on each side, it's time for the xreas to come out. What's the best suspension lift kit you guys have on your 4runners. I've seen the bilstein 3 inch kit and also the revtek. What bilstein lift do you guys perfer?

It all boils down to money and what you want for your rig. Lifts range from $130 to several thousand.

If you want to spend a couple of thousand, Go with Icon. If you want to go cheap, buy a strut assembley for an SR5 and put your spacers on them.

It's really hard to help you when we have no idea what you want. Read up on the threads that I linked, and it will help you understand where to go with your suspension.

Taking out my Xreas won't cause any problems with warning lights or anything will it?? My mechanic said I might have a light on when we take Xreas out

I've decided on the bilstein 3 inch lift from toytec! The pre set 3 inch front shocks and 2" rear coils. Not sure what else it has but it's the set that's around 900$

Yeah, the easiest and cheapest thing to do at this point would be to swap in some 1.5 rear spacers and ditch the 2 inch ones. There are usually used Daystar 1.5" spacers posted in the classifieds section (I may be putting some up for sale soon).
