Leveling Kit Questions

Thanks. Do you know which part I should be looking at? Looking at their site, the kits I could see that work with the 2010 include a rear lift as well. I'm new to this so my apologies if it's obvious and I'm just not seeing it. Thanks again.

Which model 4runner do you have ? SR5,Limited, TE with KDSS or TE without KDSS?

I have a TE with KDSS and the Bilstein 5100 lifted to 1.75" leveled mine. I have about a half inch rake. I never did a mod to any of my previous cars in my whole life. By reading the posts on this forum gave me the information I needed.

I'm in the process of trying to decide. I'm most likely going to get the TE with KDSS. If not, it would be the Limited. Thanks!

To just bring the front up near level on the TE without lifting the rear ,I would do the same as Als VARunner with the Bilsteins.You can go the cheaper route with spacers too.
On the Limited ,you are limited ,as the shocks are tied together by hydraulic lines,front left to right rear and vice versa with a reservoir in the middle on each side.You change the front shocks and you'll have to change the rears also. You can only use spacers in the front to level it out. I put Toytec spacers on when I first got mine and the ride was pretty good.I used the ones on top of the springs using a spring compressor instead of the top plate ones though.

Many have used Toytec with great results. I would also look at Readylift. They have spacers that go on top of the spring/shock absorber assembly and are much easier to install. They have a spacer that levels the front and goes in really easy, especially important if are going to take it to a shop that might not know what they are doing. Also very important with the Limited version and the XREAS system. I have them on my Limited and they worked great.

leave the stock rims and just add some KM2 tires. will look aggressive!

I used the toytec top plate spacers it lifted my trail about 2 in up front rides great get's rid of the raked look cost me about 225.00 to have installed and aligned.
Also Harper those top plate spacers will work with a limited right? A guy a on here bought them and a shop said they wouldn't work? He was asking on the thread I started awhile back rims and leveling kit on order. He said he should of asked before he bought them. Maybe you can shed some light on this since you have a lifted limited.

x2 -- I have two of those Toytec coil top spacers sitting in my garage right now. Can't find anybody to install them for under $450 because of the XREAS...

Wow 450 to install! That is more then double what I paid. Toytec said they would work on a limited right? I know a few people said they wouldn't work on a trail either but I call and talked to toytec before I ordered mine.
This is what I found on the Toytec website. Is this the one?

or is it:

To try to clear things up up a little . There are 2 kinds of front lifting or leveling spacers that Toytec and most companies sell .
One,the top plate spacer, goes on top of the the whole coilover assembly. The spring rate won't change so the ride,and brake dive will be the same.It goes between the coilover and the shock tower on the frame.
Looks like this....
The other goes on top of the spring within the coilover assembly and the spring needs to be compressed. They increase the spring rate a little and make for a firmer ride and less brake dive . Not that much but firmer. I would NOT use a hand spring compressor,like I did, on truck springs as they are real firm with tight winds. For safety,take the coilovers out and to a shop with a wall spring compressor.
They look like this...
You will need a alignment with any lift as the especially the camber will be off and the tires will wear on the outside. I'd wait a week or so for it to settle.
Some people put both on to get more spacer lift in the front and then a spacer in the back. Cheapest 3/2 but doesn't even compare in ride quality to aftermarket coilovers like the Ultimates,OW's or Icons. A case of you get what you pay for.
IsItMe's shop said it wouldn't work on his Limited,he pm'd me and I explained how to do it and they put them on for him today.Most shops are scared of the X-reas suspension and don't want the responsabilty.If you disconnect the hydraulic lines at the wrong place ,they are trashed and very expensive to replace. Don't know how much they charged him.For a shop to charge $450 to put on top plate spacers or any spacers for that matter is a rip off.It should take a reputable shop less then an hour for top plate spacers.

The first one 2 top plate spacers with 6 longer studs that says it provides 3/4 in of lift. On my 04 SR5 it gave me 1.5 inches and on my Trail it gave me 2 inches so not sure where they are getting 3/4 of lift from. It looks like they don't work on a limited or it is just expensive to have installed.

Lol looks like me and Harper replyed at the same time. Thanks for clearing that up about the Limited I was actually pretty shocked to hear a quote of 450 is nuts.

...glad I didn't splurge on that one! Harper, thanks for clearing up. Not sure what I will do with mine at this point. My ride has gotten stiffer with the E-rated BFGs, and I don't really want to further stiffen it either. For that price, I would rather put it towards getting some sliders anyways! Then, maybe a full lift some time down the road.

The top plate spacers won't stiffen the ride at all since the aren't a pre load style spacer

Yes, but I have the second ones that Harper mentioned...suppose I could get rid of those and get the top plate spacers...hmmmm....
