Leveling kit (spacers) - tackle install myself?

Hey guys newbie here ( been lurking for a while ) - great place with lots of good info. Momma has a 2013 T4R 4x4 and Santa is bringing her a Daystar leveling kit ( spacers ). My question is should I tackle the install myself? I consider myself an above avg mechanic with tools. Any helpfull suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers..

absolutely tackle it yourself, look at is as an adventure. there isn't anything that is particularly difficult about putting on the spacer lift (i assume you're getting the spacers that go onto of the assembly vs inside the spring setup) a set of simple hand tools, floor jack, jack stands, vocabulary of swear words, case of beer and box of bandaids and you should be able to knock it out in a few hours.

really all you're looking at doing is unbolting the wheel, unbolting the sway bar end link, unbolting the upper control arm from the knuckle (get yourself a new pair of cotter pins). removing the shock/coil assembly - then installing the spacer onto and replacing and reversing the previous process.

afterwards it would probably be a good idea to get an alignment and you'll be good to go.

Do it yourself... If it's kdss you might need an extra set if hands reconnecting the sway bar as there aren't any end links that are easily removable.

thats the facts - KDSS is a ***** to put back together without finessing and swearing and brute force

If you have the proper tools and can be safe then go for it. I lifted my 06 Tacoma year back, but I was afraid I would screw something up on the 4runner with x-reas, but it wasn't difficult with the right tools.

I just installed front top spacer kit using Antman's tutorial. It took me about 4 hours doing it alone and it all went smooth. Took it for alignment the next day and I'm all set. I recomend doing it yourself.

BTW, the toughest part for me was pressing out the old studs from the top plate and pressing the new ones in. Make sure you have a good vise, my medium duty one did not do the job and I had to use neighbors vise.

Dude! The rear is too easy. You might be able to fit spring compressor on while it's still installed and place the spacer in there.
