LFD Off Road 7/8 Rack Installed

Any side views of a 4runner with the 7/8 rack? Trying to decide if I want a full length or 7/8 roof rack.

Best I've got on my home computer at the moment. My light bar was mounted in front of the rack, which added about 4-6" to how long it looked.

Yeah, we tried some black oxide bolts and they rusted quickly. Not opposed to switching those to stainless if that's the general consensus.

Now I remember why we went with the plated bolts. I went to change them this morning to stainless, and our supplier doesn't carry M8 shoulder bolts in stainless. Starting to search through other suppliers...

about 10" each. 3/4 is around 70", 7/8 is around 80", and full is 89" if I recall correctly.

I looked at pictures on your website and not sure if the 3/4 length pictures are correct or not.........does the 3/4 length rack overhang the sunroof?

Ah, than that explains cad plated in the first place- they must be carriage bolts.

Currently it does. We may end up moving that back if that's what people want. We figured we'd make a "longer" 3/4 rack to give people more space, but the test vehicles we used for the 3/4s didn't have sunroofs. Currently the 7/8 is the better option if you have a sunroof, there's no interference there.

Looks like the full length rack offers t track style crossbars. Anyone know if they are 20x20mm t-tracks? Want to fit a Thule bike rack on it.

I would like to see more pics on the website of the features of the rack. For example:
-How do the front "feet" work on the full rack.
-A pic with the wind deflector on the 3/4 and the 7/8 racks.
-Any pictures of the full rack showing the crossbars (not covered up by the RTT).
-More pictures in general of the base racks, without all the additional accessories I may or may not want. Close ups! If I can't see one in person I need good detailed pics to make a choice. How about a video!

All that said, I have similar criticisms for Prinsu and the ARB website plain sucks... Frontrunner is pretty detailed.

I've been looking at this option more and more lately. I like the idea of using the factory rails for a little bit longer and building and upgrading as needed. (Easier to sell to the wife with that price too)

The 7/8 looks great!

Just a shout out to the crew over at LFD Off Road. I picked up a 7/8 roof rack from them and had it shipped out to California. I installed it on a 2017 TRD OR model. Fits like a glove.

SUPER nice quality and easy to install. Can easily be installed by one person. I have no in-progress pics, but attached some after-install pics. They followed up and shipped some light bar brackets...and then followed up AGAIN with an offer of some even better brackets! I have yet to install those. These guys are TOP-notch when it comes to customer service.

Very happy with this rack...now I gotta throw some stuff (gas cans, rooftop tent) up there and go beat it up. :)

Now that you're about a month in - would you mind sharing your thoughts? Anything change from your initial elation? Curious as I am looking at getting this one but I cant find much reviews. Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I just saw some of these responses!

Front feet on the full rack just sit on the channel. They're technically not even needed, we have one of our 4Rs running without them. You can use them to put a bit of upwards tension on the rack during install.

Thats the problem with us engineering types taking photos ;) We'll be posting some pictures of the updated crossbar designs soon, have some coming through production now. Our own racks are mix-mashes of different crossbar prototypes, so that's another reason why you don't see many of our own without stuff on them.

Wind deflectors for the 3/4 and 7/8 have now been incorporated into a special front crossbar like on the full rack. We'll be offering them as upgrades to people who already have the racks once they're through the plant. We'll still offer the simple bolt-on faring for people who are upgrading and want to save some money.

Great stuff!!

What's the chances you guys start shipping the skid plates in the future?

We're fighting a backlog right now caused by our new laser being down close to three weeks. Once we're caught up we'll start offering skids with shipping. We've got a few skid orders we're shipping next week.
