LFD Off Road 7/8 Rack Installed

Yeah, the full rack is 5" wider, otherwise its the same crossbar.

really... hmm... I may need to budget in an upgrade to full length next year. Don't get me wrong. I love my 7/8ths rack, but we are always bringing more and more stuff... I guess I need to weigh the costs of going full rack versus building up my trailer and keeping my 7/8ths... decisions decisions decisions...

No matter what - I am gonna stick with a LFD Off Road roof rack!

If I'm running the full sized rack, but want to retain the possibility of a sunroof exit (while still having a spot for lights/faring up front). there's no reason I can't just leave a gap in the crossbars where the sunroof is, right?

That’s exactly my plan and why I ordered the full size.

I see the gas tank is mounted on the front of the rack and the front end of the rack is not mounted to the top of the 4runner. The gas tank didn't bounce when you drive at high speed?

Nope! This rack is extremely rigid. 7 gallons of gasoline. no leaks. no bouncing. no weird noises. It just works.

plus trailer you can continually tinker with it, today i made some mounts for a "Trasharoo" bag, last week i built mounts for a roof top tent.

We are looking at the possibilities in modifying our Sunfish trailer so we can camp on the beach or at the lakes. Then once we get some debt paid down we are going to go into an off road trailer like AMO (Anchor Mountain Overland) or a build ourselves depending on the budget.

I have about 10" of clearance before the top of the 4R hits the lowest point of the garage entrance.

Don't know about the exact measurements, but 10" is plenty of room.

With a 2" lift, stock tire size, LFD 7/8ths rack, and my FuelPax mounted on top - I can still park in my garage with a 7 Foot door.

Has anyone compared the wind noise between the full, 7/8 and 3/4? I do a fair amount of highway driving and the noise is a huge factor for me. Also, what is the approximate installed weight of each of the three sizes?

I have a similar question. I have some bike racks I love, but somehow I don't think they will play nice with these crossbars. They need to clamp to something and the underneath side of these is hollow.

Most crossbars are round, oval, or square/rectangular. The LFD bars are pretty unique.

Almost everything I have has been easily modified to a bolt configuration with these crossbars. I have even bolted my very old Yakima fork mounts to these crossbars. It is unique, but that unique design has opened up so many possibilities for me. I feel like anything i bolt to these is secure - not prone to slipping of clamps.

on that note: I highly doubt any clamp is going to deform, bend, or break these if those clamps are made to work with the Toyota OEM roof rails.
