Thanks to my buddy Gaterose I finally got my Bilsteins 884/Superflex installed today. It was getting late so we were just able to grab some cell phone shots. Even though it was some hard work it was great hanging out and shooting the breeze. I will get some better pics tomorrow.


Nice new look! Your 4r is really riding high! I like it. How many inches it from the ground to the top edge of the wheel well now?

Are you claiming a 4 inch lift in front and 3 inch lift in rear with your current 5100+OME set up? I was under the impression via reseach OME springs gave about a 3/2 lift. Let me know as I'm curious. Looks awesome.

Thanks man. you are correct. The 884s+small spacer OR the 885s should provide around 3" lift. However, when preloaded, the 884s lift much more than the .85" setting would suggest as those estimates are derived from factory rated coils. Before the 33" STTs with my crappy, worn down 265/70 highway tires, I was sitting around 38-38.5" (center of fender to ground measured through hub's center). With the 33s, I'm a little over 39"....~40" in the rear.

OME 895/885 265/70/17 Cooper ST MAXX

Just got on my OME 885/895 installed. Used the no compressor method. Front is 38, rear is 39, so almost dead even. Love the ride with Bilstein 5100s at the lowest setting! Oh and if you notice they are silver that is becuase i painted them to match my calipers/ titanium paint.

I only needed new shocks......

so after researching new shocks, I came across the wealth of info on this thread and figured why not lift it some too at the same time.. Tons of great info on here, and learned a lot to say the least - I appreciate what was provided here. Now that my stock shock install turned into a few more $$'s than expected, I thought I would share some photos and some insight on my install.

I had originally bought the daystar lift, but ended up returning it and when ahead and bought the complete OME suspension kit from toytec (which is about 6 miles from my house - great group of people there too) - after the tires - p265/70/17s, this is what I ended up with -

2003 - V8
Bridgestone Revo 2's

spidertrax wheel spacers
the diff drop kit (toytec recommended)
OME 884 front coils
OME 90000 sport shocks for the front

1/4 top plate spacer (the 1/2 inch is the default spacer when ordering this kit, so I replaced with the 1/4 inch). My wife was overwhelmed at the lift at first, so the 1/4 inch top plates are off for now - bummer. Although I am ok with the little bit of rake.

Toytec superflex rear coils.
OME 60020 rear shocks.

I had a lot of questions about how much lift the 884 vs the 885 coils, top spacers, etc would provide, and after a lot of searches, found that others had the same question, so I can provide my results at least for the 884s in front with and without the 1/4 spacer. - hopefully I can provide a little insight based on the cost of having to remove them for now.

The 884's alone provided right about 3 1/8" of lift in the front, and the 1/4 inch spacers provided another 3/8 inches of lift.

The toytec coils have provided 3" lift in the rear.

After the install, I did note some CV joint grease that has come out of the inner boots - after cleaning that up, I have not noticed any more - hopefully a one time thing. The ride is definitely stiffer than stock, but I like it.

the front edge of the tires did rub slightly against the wheel well liner, I did move those forward, and all is good now - would be happy to share about that as well.

After one week with the install - a couple of questions. Should I expect the lift to settle any in the front or back- so far it has not, and really hope it doesn't. Will the shocks and/or coils soften up a bit after they are "broken in"? Should I be concerned with the CV joints spitting out some grease after the install, and get those repacked??

Well I figured it out so here is some pics. Other upgrades include ARB roof rack, front bull bar, and air compressor also just added the Rigid lights 40 inch on the fronts and Dually D2's on each corner of rack. CBI rear bumper should be here and mounted after Thanksgiving. I would welcome any criticism or suggestions

Mine is V6, but the OME 886 gives 2'5 inch lift and OME 885 gives 2' lift.

No it doesn't. 886 would be waaayyyy too stiff. I'm running an 885/895 setup on my v6 and its about perfect. I have a one inch body lift too.

No, its an Aura grill. Had it for a few years before the satoshi mod craze. A bit pricey, I'll admit... but I haven't seen any other one in person or on the board yet so I guess it was worth it, I suppose haha.

There are a few other Aura's floating around out there. And yes, worth it IMO.:thumb3:
