That is way too much lift for the stock ifs in my opinion. Unless it's strictly a pavement princess, you're going to be breaking stuff like crazy. It's very likely that it will settle after some driving but I personally wouldn't run any more than 3" of lift.

disagree. my fenders are 2" taller than that running 265/75's and i have wheeled the piss out of this setup. I rthink a stock front fender is around 35. Maybe someone had a saggy suspension on bald tires.

It was bad. I Just gave the info as it sat before the install. It is a 2WD and I couldn't find definate numbers from ground to fender so I guesstimated 33 1/2" for the front. Tires were good, Nitto Crossteks 265/60/18. Going to put a 1 1/2" spacer in back to get rid of Baja look and eventually go to 265/70/18 Grabber AT2.
Hey guys, I posted this in the suspension thread but need a quick answer so im posting my question here as well. One of my tires just got a nice gash in the side wall so I need new tires about 4 months earlier than I thought. I just want to make sure that my layout will work. I already have the Toytec ultimate lift. Looking at the Nitto Terra Grappler in 285/70R17. Will this have any issues on the stock wheels and how bad will they be with stock UCA? Those were next on my list but have now been bumped down. From my understanding I will have to trim or remove the mudflaps and possibly some of the front bumper. Also would spydertrax spacers hurt or help me?

I don't believe tires will affect the UCAs as much as actual lift since anything 3" or above is recommended to get aftermarket UCAs to help get back into alignment although some places can still manage to do so with stock UCAs. So if I'm correct, what I'm getting at is that you need the aftermarket UCAs becuase of the Toytec lift, not because you will be getting 285/70/17's. The spydertrax will be neccesary to clear the 285's width past the UCAs but they will also set you back in the trimming department because they will add to the rubbing on you fenders. Someone correct me if I'm wrong or misread anything.

Yeah I was going to get new UCA to get the alignment back and stop the wondering. I wasn't sure if they had an effect on the tire size I could run. I wish that the Terra came in a 275/70 size I think that would be the best way to go. Might just have to go with a different tire.

I just installed 285/70/17 BFG Rugged Terrains myself, paired with a full FJ setup, Spydertrax all around, DS 2" (not 2.5) upfront, 1.5" in the back. Roughly 3" net lift upfront.
All I needed to do was remove the front flap and cut the liner a little to clear all rubbing.
Alignment wise, take a look. I'm looking for some opinions too. Should I be worried about the less than 1° positive camber and 1-2° caster?

Are they max adjustment? on the shims? Looks like it would be vague loose steering. if you can live with that.. if not you would need uca. Its the reason why I did not want to go higher than a 1'' spacer lift in front.
You need more caster than that. Try to adjust everything to get it closer to 3.

I would also get rid of that positive camber. Positive camber is never good and can give some weird effects while cornering.

Do you have a matte wrap on your truck?
New BFG Mud Terrain T/A KO 255/75r17. Got a great deal through work. And anyone who needs new tires should grab these soon because they are discontinuing them so they were $154 a piece. A replacement will be released in November from what the Michelin rep told me.

Thanks man i'm happy with it i think it turned out ok for the first time doing it. It's always a learning process! I ended up with a little more texture than i would of liked in some areas due to doing to many light coats but it's not the end of the world. Then i also screwed up my emblems because i tried to re plasti dip them black over the silver which didn't end up well because the black dip stuck to the silver dip and well it doesn't peel off like it does on normal paint haha trial and error..
