Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

If you feel like doing it, sure would like before and after top edge of fender to ground measurements.

K, maybe not 'before'...LOL

By "top edge of fender," I assume you meant the high point of the wheel cutout? Roughly 36.5" in front, 37.5" in the back.

Daystar 2.5/ 1.5
Bilstein 5100s all around
FN wheels 17x8.5 -6
Cooper STT Pro 285/70/17 (33" tire)

Had to trim the front bumper quite a bit, remove the front mud flaps, clearance between the tire and body mount is 2mm. Speedo is off by 4mph slower that what I'm really going.

You have the front and rear daystar level kit plus the Bilstien adjustable in the front and non adjustable in the rear? Or non adjustable all the way around? I have had the daystar level just for years now and thinking about either a full lift kit or just shocks and rear coils.

Hey man, the front 5100s are adjustable and the rears are not but I chose to keep the fronts on the lowest perch and add the daystar spacers. I didn't want to put the spring perch on the very top collar as the preload would be too much and I didn't want a harsh ride.

It's been working fine for me on and off road for about 6 months now, but I started saving for a legit suspension setup as I'm starting to do harder and harder trails.

2016 TRD Pro suspension (fronts on lower perch)
2.5/1.5 Daystar (KT09115BK)
OEM TRD Pro Wheels (17x7)
SPC UCA's
LT275/70R17 BFG K02's
Toytec Diff drop

Ground to Fender/Hub to Fender
Driver Front 37.5"/22"
Pass Front 38"/22.5"
Driver Rear 38.75"/23"
Pass Rear 39.5"/24"

Running Boards:
Drivers Front 15.65"
Drivers Rear 15.65"
Pass Front 16"
Pass Rear 15.8"

Will be removing the daystar and replacing with Toytec 3/4" front level, it's just too tall for my liking on top of the TRD Pro stuff.
-UCA's pinch the ball joints at full droop and have destroyed them
-One of the CV shafts started spewing grease almost immediately once lifted
-CV bind at full droop (even with diff drop)
-Front brake lines are maxed at full droop with steering straight
-4x4 shop had to do some screwy alignment work to get it in spec, still wont steer straight

I'm thinking about putting the brand new stock UCA's I have in, selling the SPC and going uniball or similar once the stocker wears out. Just too many issues considering the fact this truck will only be doing mild trails in Colorado a couple times a year.

Looks nice! But the spc balljoints have 80* of movement, more than the uniball setup, so that's not the issue.
Spacer lift in conjunction with a suspension lift just pushes the control arms down to far. I did this once, caused many issues including a broken shock.
If cv's are original, or been in for some time, they almost always crack after a lift. They get used to the angle they are at, then you change it and the rubber has lost its flexibility and cracks.
I've adjusted the tab that holds the brake lines with a big set of adjustable pliers, pulling the tab down so the lines aren't to tight. (this falls onto the spacer/suspension combo lift issues)
As for the alignment, I have 4" of lift in the front and they were still able to adjust my caster to 4.5* but I had to leave one shop and go to another. Many toot their horns as the best, but just suck a fat one! You have to find one that isn't scared to adjust that top nut for the balljoint to change the preset caster, then get it into specs. Second shop did it in 20 minutes for me and it was perfect.

Yeah man you just have too much down travel and are binding CV's, happened to me too, even with OEM CV's. It made me mad that I couldn't run as much lift as other guys with equally equipped runner but it varies from vehicle to vehicle for some reason. One thing you could do is to take the spacers off the top or go to a shorter spacer, and preload the spring for more lift. This doesn't make the shock max length any longer so will give you lift without CV binding at full droop, the only downside is if you preload the crap out the spring it will ride terrible. I posted some info a while back about how the bilstein 5100's have a similar extended length to "extended travel" coilover setups from the big brands, so putting any spacer on top is a no-no, not sure what your shock measurements are though.

Your UCA's are definitely not the issue in this setup, look at how flat they are at static ride height. Maybe the boots were damaged during install?

See post #2 here for shock length discussion....

Like the rims your running and thinking of buy a set. I wanted to ask you and verify, your not running any wheel spacers correct? Please let me know, i want to pull my spacers off and the trail rims aren't going to give me the same stance as the spacers but thats ok with me. Thanks

Nah no wheel spacers, I thought I would need them but didn't after I put them on. Offset on these wheels is greater than the 4th gen stockers. I am very happy with the look, quality and finish of these wheels, no regrets on em.

The CV boot is leaking from the inner neck where the clip ring holds it on. I know that side ended up hyper extended during install and nearly still at full droop. I think it tore a little bit at the clip itself.

Agreed on the no-no for spacers on top of other. I wasn't aware how much lift the TRD Pro setup alone would provide. Am going down to a front 3/4" spacer only just to level it out.

The 4x4 shop adjusted the upper and lowers. They set one side to 0 (+2 built in) and the other to +1 to get it "even" and in spec (+3.75 caster) At the same time though the lower cams are all 4 differnt, completely asymmtrical. At the same time, the tires only rub one on side as well. Not sure if thats normal or a sign of uneven spacing.

The SPC UCA's do have great travel, the issue is the balljoints themselves hitting. I've found a numer of others with the same issue with even modest lifts. Pretty much have to go +2 caster and at least halfway outwards on camber to avoid it. In my case that put me past the max on the lower cam adjustments and couldnt get aligned. Only other way is lower lift, cant have both.

In the end I think i'll drop back to the 3/4" spacer, keep the SPC's. Zero everything back out to neutral and try and different alignment shop

3 inch Spacer lift?

Stock 2004 4runner sport on 265/70/17. Thinking about a 3 inch front spacer leveling kit. Thoughts?

6 inch lift on 2010 4runner

I was at Lightsey's Off Road in Columbus, GA last week and Scott had just completed this awesome 6" lift on a customers 4runner. He had searched multiple places for a dependable solution for a six inch lift and was told it did not exist. Scott worked with a suspension manufacturer to put this kit together. It looks awesome. Now a week later and the guy is still smiling. Wish it was mine!

FJ cruiser 6" lift bolts right up. Rough country kit is bolt on, no cutting required and better built.

You don't have to cut the cross member? I was under the assumption you had to do that for the 6 inch lifts
