So I'm a new 4Runner owner, for about 6 months now. It's a 2006 4th Gen, V8. LOVE IT.
When I got it, it was mostly all stock, but looked nice. Just over a week ago, I finally did the first steps that are essential to to building a 4Runner. That is, tires and a lift job. I've also previously done the front grill, mirrors, rims, and badging in black plastic dip.
I went with the Nitto G2 285/75/17 Terra Grapplers. Also a simple Rough Country 3" lift kit. See video for more details. So far I love the look--and functionality of it.
I've made a 4 minute mini-documentary of the upgrade process, including before and after footage. Here is the YouTube link to watch it---->
