Today was a good day. Got the TRD Pro wheels mounted on the Runner.

Have you tried turning your wheels? with that setup you should be rubbing like crazy.

I had this setup for a while with the SR5 OEM wheels, I just upgraded to the TRD wheels today. I definitely had to push the front wheel well forward, and dremel some of the front bumper off when I did the lift and wheel spacer job a while back. Today I'm really close when backing up in full lock with these new TRD's (more offset than OEM SR5 wheels), so if I'm feeling punchy tonight, I'll zip a little bit of the front bumper off.

mine rub on my mudflaps in reverse, even after i worked um with a heat gun. Same size tires except mine are pretty worn, and about the same offset with fxpro's. i run .75" spacers and have a 2.5/1.5 lift. my stance is a little higher and narrower. so I figured you'd be rubbing pretty bad. guess not. Nice work, your truck looks good.
I like the wide stance too. i couldn't settle for the tires being almost flush. had to poke um out a bit, so i went with .75's. i still have my spidertrax that i used with my stock wheels. i took em off though cause i thought it would be too wide with my new wheels.

It interests me that some guys deal with mudflap rubbing, and others deal with front bumper rub. Especially since you and I have the same truck! Always fun to mess with these Runners, and talk with you guys. Thank you, and likewise on your truck!

BFG C-rated 285/70/17

Those are the 265/70/17 C-rated tires.

Once you hit the 275 size you go to E-rated on the BFG's. Wish BFG made KO-2's C-rated in the 275. I would buy those in an instant.

I have a set of C-rated 285/70/17 BFG KO2's. I would imagine that they make them in 275, since they make them in 285's.

hey thanks man! its taken a lot to get it there but having a coworker who mods every vehicle he buys and then sells them a couple months later, and a couple of slow days hanging out lead me to start modding my 4runner. Plus once you start its hard to stop

I wish anyone made a C rated AT in 275. The only one I've found is the Cooper AT3 which I'm not a huge fan of appearance wise.

They do but they're E rated which is way to heavy/harsh for most of us.

Just looked on BFG's website. Weird that they don't make 275's in a C rated version, when they make my 285's in a C rated version. Oh well...Just get 285's.:thumb3:

I would have gone for a c-rated, but I really wanted the 275 and at the time, I think the c-rated 265 cost more or weren't in stock.
I had E's on the Runner when I bought it, and this is my first set off tires (others last almost 45k miles). So, I can't really compare how the ride would have been with C's.

Did 5100s and OME 885/895s this weekend. Love it! Tires are 265/70R17 General Grabber AT2s

Waiting for it to settle before I get it aligned, but I wouldn't be surprised if I end up needing UCAs. That said, the alignment feels pretty true right now as it is. I'm actually really surprised.

Looks good! I have a white 4th Gen Sr5 and I'm looking to do a similar setup on. I've got the springs and now I just need to get the 5100s. Did you do the work yourself or did you take it somewhere? Also, have you felt like you need UCA's yet?

I honestly like the E's more on pavement. They keep the handling sharp despite being large tires. I had a friend that daily's an S2000 comment on how much he liked the turn-in when he drove it :becky: On the other hand, a friend of mine has C load Grabbers on his Forester and absolutely hates how sloppy they feel.

Thanks! Did the work myself on a friend's lift with air tools. Took us about 7 hours (30 mins of which was a wheel bearing - surprisingly the easiest part). I'd hit everything with PB blaster the day before and expect the endlinks to be a *****-and-a-half to remove. The top rear bolts on the front struts are also a pain. The strut tophat will also sometimes seize to the piece it goes into. That took us a solid hour of banging at to remove.

I think it could be done without a lift - would just be a bit more uncomfortable. I wouldn't try it without an impact though.

As for UCA's, I'm gonna replace them whenever my upper ball joints go bad. For the time being, they're alright. I do still need to get it aligned, though (shame on me).

I went with 2nd gen endlinks on the rear to get a bit more droop. I left the front stock though, as I'm worried about my CV's binding. A diff drop/new skid that accommodates it will be coming in the future.

hmmm, are you sure there is no rubbing?

You didn't move the fender liners or anything?

i did remove the fender liners back when i had those tires on with no lift and that took care of the rubbing. it only rubbed turning left in reverse.

Ya I'm a big fan of these rims and in black they are even better. I sanded, primed and painted them myself. Used DupliColor Satin Black.
Holding up pretty well and they look great even up close. There's a few scratches and whatnot on them but I can touch those spots up easily.

The satin makes the difference. Looks much better than a gloss on those in my opinion. You're tempting me to find a set now!
