Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

I don’t know if I love or hate your wheels.

My son picked them. It's a lot to do with what's trending in our area. I wasn't crazy about them, but it's his vehicle so we got them. I like them better now that they are on. He didn't want a "mom mobile" so I think we accomplished that at least....no offense moms, or those that haven't modified theirs.

Further info.: had a diff. drop but didn't use it. I installed one side and could see my half shafts were at an upward angle. Closer to level without and I don't lose the 1" ground clearance.
Before lift and wheels, front tires were in 1 3/8" from fender and now are 1 1/4" out. Rear were 1 7/8" in from fender and now are 5/8" out. I only measured on driver's side.
I had to borrow a coil spring compressor to install the rear.
I did not disconnect the lca's or remove the calipers for the front install. I did remove the sway bar in the front.
Cut very little plastic on front of fender and heated and reshaped the liner a bit in the front. Removed the front mud guards.

I think they look good. They’re not too flashy with the combination of black and machined. Turned out well!

Niffnorf hey man, so I am buying an 03 limited V8 with RAS and XREAS. I was thinking about removing the XREAS and replacing with bilstein 5100 all around, and fj springs in the front to level it out. This should provide about 1.5” of lift to the front and give the leveling effect that I want. When you leveled your truck did you reuse the stock front springs with the daystar leveling kit? Also what setting do you have the front bilsteins set at? Thank you, any advice will help. I am new to 4runners (owned an 01 tacoma before this) and am super excited to do some off-roading in it!

I've sold a lot of people our lift kit WITH that went with the bilstein 5100's or already had them. I can't find the posts in this thread, but there a multiple people that I sold lifts to that didn't like the ride quality of the Bilsteins with the them turned up in the front. The truck rides better with our lift spacers and the Bilsteins turned down to the lowest setting. I will try to find the posts on there and quote them as there are nice before and after photos with the lift and the bilsteins turned down very low.

If anyone needs help, let me know as I do carry the bilsteins and our lifts. Call or text 717-319-2100

Got this in the mail today.

Here is my 4runner, just lifted this past weekend :guitar2:

285/75r16 Falken Wildpeak MT's
16 inch SCS Gunmetal SR8's
1.25 inch Spidertrax Spacers
3 inch RC Lift (Including XReas, surprisingly amazing ride quality)

Had to do a lot of cutting including cutting the front bumper but it turned out great. Also can't wait for the SRQ Retrofits to come in next week :high5:

Hey man, digging your rig! Pretty similar to what I want to get out of my v8 SE as well. You were able to fit the 16" SCS with the larger SE calipers ?? Was under the impression they wouldn't fit.

Random Question

But anyone know who's truck this is? Or if they're on T4R? Spotted it on the Gobi website, curious about the suspension setup + ARB. Great looking truck either way...

Thanks in advance for any hot tips

This truck looks a lot different now, but this is @bullhorn_ on Instagram. This picture was probably taken very early in his build.

Awesome, thanks man! And yah, it's changed quite a bit.

I was about to instigate another Shrockworks group buy but this build has given me pause - now reconsidering the ARB but hate that it doesn't have recovery points built in like the SW bumper...

Looking good! For some reason I always think the 03-05 look a lot taller than the 06-09 when lifted. I think it has something to do with the shape of the fender wells....? What kind of lift?

Anyway I love white 4Runners and she’s looking clean!

CV angle. How do these angles look?

Rides really nice. Soaks up bumps really well. Not crazy stiff.
Still need to get an alignment.

Looks great man! Roughly 3/2 lift? Did you use the spacer on the driver's front, rear or both?

03 v8

2003 v8
-3" toytec lift
-1" billet spacers (silly calipers) up front
-Procomp series 97 17" rims -38mm offset
-33x12.5 r17 tires mud terrains (that defiantly need replacing soon)

This is a clean setup. Glad to see more Falken MT's out there on 4th gens, great tires. Curious to see how the rough country lift holds up, but either way looks very clean.

Got some tires. 265/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3
They are a little small, but its crazy how much more expensive the tires get just by moving up from 265 to 275 or 285.

Ride nice. Still need to get an alignment. How long do you think I can drive with a bad alignment until I mess up new tires? Im going on Friday to get it aligned. probably drive 150 miles until then.

On ATs you'll be fine for a while because they have so much tread. I (shamefully) haven't gotten my 4Runenr aligned in the 3 years since I've owned it. I *couldn't* for a while because the LCA bolts were seized and wouldn't turn. Replaced those last year and keep meaning to align it, then having something go bad in the front suspension that makes me push the alignment back. Getting an alignment this weekend after having literally everything replaced (my friend and I did set the toe as good as we could to try to avoid too much wear every time a big suspension piece was replaced.)

To sum it up, I've done 20k miles on this set of General Grabbers and they're just starting to show their wear since my alignment has been *horrible* for the last 3k miles or so (new control arms, including adjustable uppers as well as a 3" lift. Did tie rods last week...).

Don't sweat a couple hundred miles if it has to be driven. These aren't sticky summer tires on a sports car.

Wow 3 years lol. I think I am fine then. The place I got my tires installed said they give "free" alignments with purchase of 4 tires. "free" meant toe only. So I said F them and called my usual place where they specialize in alignments for lowered cars, GTRs and all that good stuff for only 100 bucks.
