Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

Hankook

Just got a set of Hankook AT's today. I've heard good things and have enjoyed the ride so far. Now to get rid of those running boards. I'm hoping to get it off road in the next week or so...

I really like the BFG A/T.... They are very smooth and quiet in the highways and I have not use them off road yet but I think they will be fine....

I live west of Houston in Richmond city.

I imagine you have the same E Load as my 275/70/17s. I almost didn't get that size because of the E Load, and some claims of them "riding like dump truck tires". My experience with them has been great actually, I am glad I went with them now. Hope a couple of positive opinions about this size/load might help some others like me making a decision.

What pressure are you running them at? Mine are at 40 but I might come down a couple psi depending on the wear pattern.

This is my 4th set of BFGs, but the first on a runner.....I liked them in all situations, wet included. JME with them.

Same lift, new meat

Same lift, but new Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires in 267/70/17. I would have like 285's but I wanted to keep my spare.

Sorry about the change in tire size just realized my mistake 265 not 275 , i find that I should do something about my front sway bar , I keep pullin them apart and should i change my shocks; still runnin the stock ones . Some times they feel like they bottom out in high speed fun. Any help would be great, gettin the cherry bomb cat back back and a K&N intake in the winter months can't wait!!!

New tires, wheels, & lift

I've been lurking for a while and recently updated my 2004. I purchased leveling kit and rims off ebay. Tires are 265/75/16 GYSA. Sorry, pictures aren't the best.

03 w/ BFG All-Terrain T/A KO 265/70/17 + Daystar 1-inch "budget boost"

BFG All-Terrain T/A KO 265/70/17. In this size there are two variations offered by BFG:

1. "8-ply" black wall, load range 'D' that is NOT rated for severe snow.
2. "10-ply" white lettering, load range 'E' that IS rated for severe snow.

My tires are the latter because I will be doing some serious cross-country towing and may periodically venture onto snow-covered roads.

I also installed the Daystar 1-inch leveling kit (a.k.a. budget boost), which is part # KT09117BK.

The 1st picture below is with the tires installed, lift NOT installed, and PSI set at 78.0. I did not get any rubbing, even at full lock, which surprised me as this is a fairly common discussion point in these forums.

The following 5 pictures are taken after the lift has been installed. I had planned on taking good before/after pics from the same location with measuring devices so you could make an accurate comparison but it poured rain the day I installed the lift so that plan ended up going down the drain.

These last 2 pictures are of the alignment specs after the tires and lift were installed. I made sure I drove on some bumpy roads (about 8 miles total) to get everything to settle before getting the alignment.

Anyway, I hope that my post is able to offer up some assistance to anybody thinking about larger tires or a mild lift.

For what it is worth, for my daily driver I like everything to look stock-ish. By that I mean my truck is now what I think it should have been from the factory. The steep rake is gone, the ride is a bit firmer (because I keep near-max pressure in my tires plus they have stiffer sidewalls than the stocker Michelins), the handling is better and I can drive over small obstacles easier. I am meticulous about all my automobiles and I think my truck looks pretty good for just having turned 100,000. Thanks for cheking her out!

Those look a lot bigger then 265/70/17. I am running a 265/75/16 on mine and they don't look anywhere near that size.

Here is my rig......so far.

Bilstein 5100's with FJ coils & Toytec 1/4" spacer on front with Canuck Motorsport 2" lift rear coils on 5100's. Front diff drop kit.

BFG T/A KO's 265/70R17's on Spidertrax spacers.

Love it all & no complaints.

Daystar 2.5 / 2

Here's a pic of my '03 and my daughter on a day trip we took a few weeks ago. It's a Daystar 2.5 / 1.5 that I installed back in late '08.
