This may have been covered before, but i've got some questions about fender rub and some potential options that i've been thinking through.
A few months back I put a Tundra/LC lift on the 4runner with bilstein 5100's. They are the tundra shocks on the 2nd perch. I put new wheels and tires on the rig at that time. Went with 285/70/17 on some newer 4runner wheels. They have the same offset as the stock ones that i had on there. After driving it for a few months i've noticed that I had some rub on the UCA/frame. In order to cure this I just recently put on some 1.25" spacers (all pro, not that it matters).
Now i'm getting a terrible rub on the lower backside of the fender. It is where the transition piece bolts from the fender to the running boards. I am curious what the best solution to this is. I've considered 3 options. The three options i've considered are...
Body Lift, Moving my shocks up a perch, trimming the plastic.
If I did a body lift, would that solve the problem? I'm not certain that it would because the transition piece bolting the two items together would still be in the same relative location to the wheel during its length of travel. If I did one it would be between a 1/2" and a 1", nothing bigger. I already just barley clip my garage door when pulling in, so if I did anything I would have to air down to get into it.
I think the best chance of success (other than trimming plastic) to prevent this would be to raise which perch i'm on with the shocks. This would raise the wheels natural travel pattern (during normal driving) in relation to the plastic, but would this be enough?
I think the best chance of preventing it would be to just trim the plastic/take the plastic piece off. This is the least attractive option in my opinion, just because i'd rather not.
Anyways, looking for some other input from those who have gone through this and solved their issues.
