Since you're planning to get the SE, this model comes standard with the xreas system. This means that your lift options will be limited to one type of lift suspension: spacer technology.

My personal recommendation is to get a maximum of a 3 - 3.5 (if you really want to push it) lift. I don't recommend running anything more than that. With this lift, you'll be able to fit larger tires (depending on model and type of course).
Installation is not an easy task for the xreas but any person that is mechanically skilled will be able to install it with ease. If you want to install it right as soon as you get your 4runner, you're free to do this.

I have a couple of questions regarding on of the post in this thread as follows:
1. Installation on an XREAS is more difficult. Why is it more difficult?
2. I am assuming the XREAS means you must keep the factory shocks. If that is the case how much additional lift will they support? I seriously doubt they will support more than 2" of increased travel but could be wrong?

It's more difficult to do an installation on a xreas system because you have to work while your shock is still connected. Therefore working on your shock while attached makes it very challenging but nothing too impossible.

The 3 choices GT stated normally give you the following lift, and they all have been installed on XREAS systems with no ill effect to date.DWM-4Runner said:
Daystar 2.5" front 2" rear (different spacer heights availible but this is the norm)
Revtek 3" fromt 2.5 " rear
NE 4" front and 3" rear ( they can do custom heights, which is a good option. also has rear shock relocators to allow for some more flex while keeping current XREAS shock)
So there are plenty of XREAS options availible now, and you can decide which works best for you. What you will notice is that they lift the front slighty more than the rear to counter the natural nose down stance. If you search a little both r0cky and myself posted instalation instructions for an XREAS system. I currently run Daystar in the front (2.5") and NE (2") in the rear, which works for my temporary solution. I didn't get the right height I wanted from the Daystar spacers in the back so had custom ones done by NE.
