Lift & Tires Complete

First of all, thank you very much for your information. You have been very helpful. Here is the update information regarding my lift (leveling).

I used Bilstein 5100 Adjustable Height for the front and Bilstein 5100 HD (I believe HD stands for Heavy Duty) for the rear. I used stock springs (coils) for both the front and the back. And I lifted the front about .85 inch. In comparison to X-REAS when it was brand new, scale 1 to 10, 10 is exactly matched with X-REAS performance, I would say the performance of this new bilsteins shocks along with stock springs at about 7. I am very happy with the look but not the ride (performance).

Rear too much dampening? Front? Just don't like the balance of compression to rebound dampening? Do they make a 5100 for the rear that isn't HD? Thanks

Yes, they do making Bilstein 5100 non-HD for the rear. About dampening, the front is very decent, but rear is pronounced clearly.

Let me ask you this Pritchnakoff....what do you do for a spare tire now?

I am debating going for a 265/70/17
or a 285/70/17


but I want a spare

Right now, I am pretty confident in the tires capability vs what I am willing to tackle wheeling in small groups and am not currently running a spare - let's be honest though; I couldn't afford the 5th tire all at once...



I plan on getting a full size spare of the same tire in the next month or so and will be strapping it on the roof rack when I go wheeling. My wife uses the 4R as a daily driver, but only puts about 20 miles a day (or less) so I don't need it full time.

On a side note, I finally got around to adding Spidertrax in the front due to the extra rubbing. What a difference; I can make full donuts in a cul-de-sac again and didn't have to trim any bumper, just more of the liner on the inside, am still totally stoked on these tires and their performance!

when everyone speaks of trimming....after you put the 285s on can you drive it or do you have to immediately trim?

lets say if i get the tires thrown on at a tire place will i be able to drive home a few miles away to do the trimming?

has anyone heard of the tire places trimming for you like NTB or Tirediscounters??

will the tire places help you trim?

When i first got mine they rubbed the liners at extreme turn under normal driving, the tire 'technician' at Discount Tire used a razor knife to trim off some of the liner so it didn't rub and I was good to go. While reversing, turning and going down hill, the tires would catch the bumper gaurd and it would flop over the lugs and make an absolutely horrible sound but no real damage, i drove like that for 10 days before my spidertrax came no harm no foul!

They did take off a good amount of paint from the uca during that time, but it's all good now. Sounds like you'll be in about the same position, i wouldn't worry about it to much...

did you get just the front spacers or do all 4 wheel ?

I only went with the front, there wasn't any performance reason to add to the back and 1.25" isn't that noticeable of a difference to drop another hundred bux for looks - keeps it in my pocket for other mods

Cool thanks for the good info... that sounds like what my situation is going to be! I am fricking excited to put the lift and new tires on!


When I put my front level kit on I was excited but....its going to be nothing like the 3/2 baby!!!!!
