Lifted but not lifted...am I missing something?

What is up with these lifted trucks that have no gain in clearance? I see them from time to time on the road and now I see this ad.

If its an IFS rig its because its got a "for looks only" bracket lift. If its a solid axle Ford or Dodge, its because the only way to create additional clearance beneath your axles is to go up in tire size, no matter how tall the lift is.

If its an IFS rig its because its got a "for looks only" bracket lift. If its a solid axle Ford or Dodge, its because the only way to create additional clearance beneath your axles is to go up in tire size, no matter how tall the lift is.

for looks? maybe. if I ever lift my 06, it will be with whatever it takes to get the suspension geometry back to stock. both the steering, and the cv angles. I wont be messing around with rebooting or replacing axles once a year. that's horseshit.
it will still give me additional height to clear larger tires, and that is really the only way you gain ground clearance. we still don't have IRS.

Noone said anything about your 06 4runner. And a regular standard or mid travel setup will give you more ground clearance in the front. Even with the same size tires.

I'm in this Facebook group called Southern Swagger, not sure why I joined, but it is interesting to see the crap they post.

Anyway the other day someone posted a shot of his truck next to another members truck, making fun of the other guy's truck for being the same height despite having 37s (the guy posting it had 35s) on the same truck. So he's making fun of the guy for having a tire size proportional to the amount of lift he has, instead of jacking it up 2-3" higher than necessary.

I should really leave the group, but it's hilarious seeing the stupid crap they say. The memes they post, oh the hilariously stupid memes...

That Dodge looks like a MILDER version of one of our Part's Guy's Dodge Ram, but in Silver instead of the ridiculous Gansta Gleam Green he's got going on (bad paintjob too, the door doesn't match the rest of the truck and stuff.)

He says he builds trucks like that for SEMA and that he takes them off-roading, but honestly I really can't believe it.
