Lifted King Suspension

hahaha, it has been sitting in my driveway i believe y have only used it twice in the last 3 weeks i have been traveling, but all of next week will be in SD
 
I hear ya dude...I travel for work a lot which is great for keeping my mileage and gas cost down but its no fun doing all this work on your truck and hardly being able to enjoy it
 
I got a King setup and I'm trying to do the install this weekend but it would appear that the reservoir brackets that came with aren't going to work with the KDSS. What did you have to do? Can you post pics of the mounting point and brackets for each of the shock reservoirs? I'm going to call King and see what they recommend as well, but I would also like to see what you ended having to do. I would prefer to not have to go back to their office and have to leave my truck. Thanks
 
I just ordered Kings Shocks for my truck which also has KDSS so we will see how it comes out when they put it all on or if they also run into any problems.
 
I just put a set of King 2.5" Reservoirs with adjustable compression on the rear of my 11' TE KDSS.... not a single issue with fitment at all. I took the truck out for a 75 mile trail ride last Friday, Sat, and Sund. and everything, including the rear outperformed all expectations. You will LOVE those shocks!!!!!
 
Sounds great, yeah i am excited about getting them on, I cant wait! I would love to see some pics or video if anyone else on this forum has Kings on a 2010 4 runner, even better if it has KDSS.

looking for king suspension

hi every one.I am new to the forums .I have a2011 te kdss,and need some help (feedback). looking for a king set up i call downsouth motor sp. the person taking my call is patiently answering my questions and all was well.then i told hen that my car had kdss,he said king dont make anithing for kdss trucks and he had to call king and chek.i call king and technician tells me they have not taste their product on kdss trucks, they dont know how the two sistems wold interact.icall back downsouth and he tells me he is waiting king tech.suport to call back. he wont sell me the set until king says their product is compatible with kdss.what to do next.i had to ask here where there is plenty know how.

I have a king setup and KDSS. Havent had any problems with either since the install, almost a year now. I dealt directly with King so the shocks are valved specifically to the truck. I was looking at down south as well, but since I'm pretty close to King I just went through them. Was able to pick them up directly to save a couple of bux, which is always nice. The mounting brackets that come with the system for the reservoirs are not directly compatible with the TE and KDSS. They didn't know that as they had an SR5 in their shop to set up the package. They held me there for an extra 20 min. or so to check it out. Basically said good luck and let us know how it goes. I had to get a little creative with mounting the reservoirs. Been meaning to check if they have done something about it yet because I would prefer a different set up for the mounts. Mine work but they could be better. They were modified in haste. I can send you some pics if you like. Just let me know.

downsouth was giving me a better price until i mentioned kdss. i want to try again tomorrow to see if they heard from king. if i have to call king how do i tell them to valve the set up for my truck when they told me they dont do kdss specific. what wold be the diference
 
No difference in valving between KDSS and non KDSS suspension. KDSS = Hydraulically controlled sway bar basically.

You will need to fabricate a bracket for the fronts, I was able to use the bracket they came with and cut it a bit and drill a hole and bolt it through the frame.
 
Thats what I had to do as well. Drilled through the backside of an existing on the right side and with a bit of a trimming and drilling was able to get the bracket mounted. The left side was a bit trickier. Trim, weld and drill. Ended up using the snap holes for the rubber covers around the suspension. Working pretty well. Been meaning to check if they've made a bracket for the KDSS set up yet.

I didn't save money on the cost of the shocks, just didn't have to pay for shipping. No difference in the shocks themselves. The reservoir brackets have spacers for the swaybars, which KDSS doesn't need. Thats where the trimming and creativeness came into play.
 
called dawnsouth friday.they said king told them king was tasting their set on a kdss truck and it would not properly work and for warranty reasons downsouth wold not sell me a kit. i then called king .they wold not confirm nor denied,all they said was that they had not tasted the systems working together them selfs and dont know how they wold interact.back to where i started.for what i read before on the forum i think king is the better option for me.my mind says the truck is new dont fix it,my hart says get the kings,get the kingggs.downsouth sais king tasted and dont work,king says they dont know.when you guys with kdss ordered your sets,did you mentioned kdss or just ordered for regular te
and gaved out the weight of the vehicle or how you got them tune to your truck.
 
Hey great looking truck! May I ask how many turns you went on your coilovers? I'm gonna adjust mine soon and are running icon rear springs. I was looking for a level look...
