Lifted T4Rs & Jacks/Hi-Lifts

I've been searching around and only found tidbits of information regarding this.

- Lifted 5th Gen stock scissor jack won't work with a 3" Lift + 33" Tire configuration.
- Most people seem to have a Hi-Lift to replace it.

My questions:

Is it in fact true that the stock jack won't work for those who are lifted with oversized tires?

For those with a Hi-Lift, how are you raising your 4R to change a tire? I understand sliders make things easier, but for those of us who haven't invested in sliders yet?

Just trying to get some straight answers in a dedicated thread.

Without sliders or some other suitable lifting point, a wheel adapter is about the only good way to lift the vehicle, which obviously won't help with changing a tire. With 33s you are only .5-.75 inch higher, so the stock jack should work fine under the rear axle.

I would replace the POS OEM jack with a hydraulic bottle jack with sufficient height. You should do that anyway, even if you keep stock.

How long ago did you get it? We're you able to change out the bottle jack?

I haven't tried, I have a bunch of jacks and this is probably in my garage somewhere unless I gave it away. Bought it a couple years ago

I keep an X-Jack in the truck. At home I just use a floor jack.

Maybe it's just me, but just jack it up from the axle. Even with xx" of lift, it doesn't change the height. I understand you can't get to it if you're in precarious situations, but I don't believe we're discussing those situations.
Your axle height only changes with tire size. And as I recall, no one is running 37" tires yet.

Thats good for the rear. IMO jacking the front on the LCA is dangerous, just to much of a chance the jack will slip especially on the side of the road hurrying to change a flat. A couple of blocks of wood don't take up to much cargo space. My .02

I currently keep blocks in my rig, and I have a garage jack for when I am at home, but I sure would love to find out about a reliable jack that is small and light weight.

I actually have 4 of those powerbuilt jacks mentioned above and have had no problems with them at all. I used them with my lifted FJ, no issues.

How long ago did you get these jacks? I have read a lot of reviews stating they leaked hydraulic fluid at the base of them.

Thanks. I will check this out. I want it to fit in the existing jack location...seems like it MIGHT fit but I gotta check that...and I too am worried about leakage...

I've got the powerbuilt jack too. Used it several times to adjust my coilovers and change out two flat tires with no problems. I keep the powerbuilt jack in my truck for daily driving, use my floor jack at home, and will be getting a hi-lift for wheeling. I've had mine for about 1.5 years with no leaks.
