Lifting a lifted truck...

sorry for the noobish question...i ran a search and came up with nothing specific. im just curious what other people have done.
i recently lifted the wife's 4runner 3" and changed the tires. what ive been thinkin about is if i get a flat and need to change it, what to use to lift it. what i was thinkin of doin is basically using the stock bottle jack with maybe a 3" spacer to lift it up. i know there are high lift jacks available but i cant see how to use one of those if i have factory running boards and bumpers..(where would you lift at using a high lift jack??).

That would be a great excuse to buy sliders. Because that's where you would lift it with the high lift jack. But then you would need to mount the high lift jack. That would be a great excuse to buy an after market rear bumper.
But then you would need new suspension to support the heavier bumper.

Using a block of wood under the oem bottle jack as suggested would work. Or you can also get a High lift jack base and use it under the bottle jack.

thats what i thought about the high lift jack...needing either the bumpers and/or slidders...but...its the wife's truck so unfortunetly the bumpers and slidders will have to wait. it was like pulling teeth to get her to let me put suspension and a roof rack on it...lol.
i guess ill stick with the stock bottle jack and a spacer for now. i appreciate the help and thanx for teh link.

A bottle jack is actually a very good choice, as it can be placed directly under the axle, preventing the extra jacking you have to do with a high-lift as the suspension sags. Just carry one or two old pieces of wood (like a short 2x10) to toss under the jack.

Bottle jack and boards is what I use, and I'm a lot higher than 3".

A hilift will work without jacking points as long as you also carry a wheelmate and a jackstand. That's a lot of weight to pack with you for tooling around town, though. Find a bottlejack with holes in the base and bolt it to a chunk of 4x4.
