Lifting rear with factory spring rates

Forgetful

New member
Are there any springs out there that give 1.75-2in of settled rear lift but aren't made for 200-400lb of extra load?

Seems like anything over 1-1.5inches is some sort of HD spring. I really don't like harsh rides since I do a lot of washboard/rough roads fairly unloaded.

Closest I've seen is the ICON 52700, but it's still supposedly stiff unloaded and more like 2.5in unloaded.

If youre not looking for any sort of capacity gain its probably best/cheapest to just do a spacer lift. You would not have anything to gain by changing rear springs with the same spring rate.

I do have King shocks in the rear which have an extra 1.5"ish of travel so I wanted to be able to take advantage of extra travel if possible/needed.

I would be more than happy to sell you some unused Dobinsons C59-505 coils in teal, and with no wait time! Supposedly these coils provide 1.5" of lift with a stock weight rear end. One of the coils is only 1/4" taller than the other, mostly thanks to an uneven flat grind where the shorter coil measures 0.2" at the terminal end, while the taller coil measures 0.4". Don't worry though, I was told by Dobinsons this is "within tolerance." Let me know if you're interested!

Just kidding. I would be too embarrassed to show my anonymous face around here if I sold these to another member.

If you like the feel in the back, go with spacers. I think factory rate is like 180ish and aftermarket tend to be 220ish for “no additional constant weight”. What are you planning to do up front?

I bet those are mis-tagged C723s. 723's are the 505 but with a built in 15mm height on the passenger side. If I was looking to run 505's on KDSS I would buy those quickly and install the taller one on my passenger side.

For a side note, I have C725 which are the same as C325, but with the extra 0.2" on the passenger side.

That's an interesting thought, but I was under the impression they no longer make differential height coils for KDSS trucks. You can't even order them through Dobinsons Direct or Exit Offroad.

I installed the c59-505 on my 2019 pro. Gave about 2” of lift with no extra weight in rear. I put a 15mm shim on driver side to help with lean. I did 2” lift in the front also.

This first pic is about 500 miles after spring installed. Also truck has 285/70s on it.

Flexes nice too.

Rear springs

I have the Bilstein B12 specials. I netted just under 2 inches rear lift on my 4wd ORP. I like the ride, and I don't have much added rear weight. I thought it was a perfect stance with my Bilstein 5100s set in front to the top perch. I recently added about 140 lbs of winch bumper and now I am back close to factory rake. It still looks good but I may have to install front lift springs and adjust the perch setting to get back to the 2.5 inches of front lift.
