Lifts Again

So I can not decide what kind of lift I want to get. I just want it for looks. Around 3 inches. I want a little bit meaner looking truck. It will not be going off road since it's a 2wd and I would rather break a 4 wheeler than a car. I was thinking about the Toytec $300 spacers with rear ome coils. I want to keep the ride quality as close as possible or better. I don't want to spend a ton but I do not want junk. I don't want a body lift either. Should I go with this? Is it everything I need to get it a little higher off the ground? I plan on keep the tires right now (265/70r/16) but I will get bigger ones later on.

if you are not going to wheel it I would recommend just going 2.5" with a spacer lift, I think you are going to still want new shocks and struts though.
 
If you want it to ride as close to how it does now, then a 2.5" Daystar spacer kit for ~$175 is probably your best bet. I love my OMEs, thet're wonderful off road with the tires aired down, but on road they ride noticeably stiffer than factory coils.
 
What would be a good place to order the 2.5 daystar spacers? Also what size tires would I be able to run after that? I'm not looking for huge, just a little bit of difference and a meaner look. Should I also get a dif drop for mine since it's a 2wd? I thought that they were only used for 4wd but after reading I found out different.

This is about the cheapest you will find the whole kit (front and rear):

It shows red, but the description says black. You don't have a front diff so no need to drop it. You were correct before - only 4wds need the diff drop. you could squezze on some 285/75/16s (33x11") or 255/85/16s (33.5x10")with a little bit of pounding and cutting on your fenders, otherwise 265/75/16s (32x10") will fit without cutting.
 
Alright I went to summit but when I choose my model (check application) it says that itll only work for the 1996-1997 limited and mine is a 1998 limited. I don't know if they're any different though in suspension.

Glad to help! The 265/75s won't give you a big drop in power or affect your MPGs like the 285s or 255s will either so that's a plus. I personally like the way 33s look with a lift better, but 265s still look good, especially M/Ts.

Skyjacker makes a nice spacer lift that comes with new rear shocks in your choice of gas or nitro...

I dont see Daystar throwing down new shocks with their kit?!?! ;):

I personally don't recommend Skyjacker's products because of my own experience with them and their company in the past. But yeah, it's another option. I was thinking cheap as possible too. If you're gonna get shocks, get better ones than Skyjackers IMO. Even ProCrap is better.
 
If I can get away with just spacers then I will do that. I can always get new shocks later anyway. (My truck would probably lift up some if I had new shocks. After 234k, I don't know if they have ever been replaced).

ToyTec makes spacers too :)

and do you remember when we had all the trouble with yours because the top bolt was spinning?...ToyTecs don't do that. since they are aluminum, they have notches that prevent the bold from turning. aluminum doesn't squish either

the Bilstein height adjustable front shocks provide lift with a stock spring.
 
After thinking about it more, you could do the spacer thing (and I think Toytec's spacers are better than Daytars too) but with all the miles on your suspension, you would really be better off getting all new shocks and coils all around. I know you're looking for cheap right now, but if you're like 90% of us, in a few months you'll wish you had done it right the 1st time.

I'm gonna see if my uncle ever replaced any parts on the suspension. He bought it brand new in 98 so he would know. I guess that will depend on if I just get some spacers right now or the whole deal. How much am I looking at for new coils and shocks all together?
