Lifts with 265/70/17, issues?

Mine is a Toytec at about 2 1/2" with stock 265's. This pic shows the factory tires and I now have 265 Toyo's. I am happy with the tire size and the fact that the speedometer didn't change and the mileage didn't change.

I did not get the lift to impress with looks, but to get better approach and departure angles when 4 wheeling. I like the looks okay, but am more concerned with function. If others don't like the look, I don't care. They are not driving it or paying for it and my build is to get the job done, not impress someone at the mall.

As far as handling, the lift stopped the front dive and cornering seems to be better, but the ride is stiffer.

2" Bilstein 6112 up front, 1.5" 5100's w/OME coils in rear.
17x8.5", -6 offset wheels wrapped in 265's Falken AT3W. Had to remove front mud flaps and cut the inner front bumper as these were rubbing on full lock.

Truck now rides better than stock (feels more planted), however, my mpg's did take a hit. Overall, I'm satisfied with the outcome!

The roof led bar is from Extreme LED. It's their 44inch x6 model.

I went with it to match the bundled x6s light bar that came with my C4 Fab bumper.

I've been really happy with both bars so far. Also keep an eye for sales on their site. Here's a thread with more info. Link

Mild lift with stock tire size is the best compromise for me between daily driving and off roading, which I'm only able to do once a month.

Every time I think I want 33s, my fear of how much more sluggish my truck would be without a regear keeps me from doing it.

mine is a daily driver and I stuck with stock size to maximize mileage. Sometimes the tires look small, but for overall performance, I prefer stock.

Top picture is totally stock...bottom picture is with new wheels, tires, and lift. Just changing the type of tire also makes a big difference...wheel offset also improves the look

This is the second 4runner I've lifted, and I can honestly say that the tread pattern of the tire makes a much bigger difference than the size of the tire when it comes to appearance. I've got 275 K02 E rated on mine right now at stock height, and will be going back to 265 p rated Falkens when I install my lift soon. E rated tires are very much overkill for a 4Runner unless you plan on significant miles off road.

2'5 Billy 6112/5100 T13 install

Installed the kit today. B6112/5100/T13/10mm spacer (7,5). I'll be running stock tires and rims until I can save enough$$.

It's been fine for me so far. While it definitely looks better with larger tires, will definitely wait until I finish up this set of 265's.

I don't really see the point of upsizing tires unless you are doing some pretty serious trails. There are a lot of negatives for a pretty minor "improvement" in performance. Actually, the same argument can be made for a minor lift.

That said, the tread and sidewall design of a tire can make it look bigger or smaller. I moved from the stock tires to stock sized Wildpeak at3ws and they look much larger to me.

Yep sidewall design seems to have more effect than actual .25 to .5 inch of tire height gained lol.

highest setting with 6112s in the front and 5100s in the rear with OME 2895 springs.

Definitely looks like I skipped leg day. Upgrading to 255/75/17 ST Maxx tires this week and will post a picture if that looks any better.

Dobinsons 1" lift all around, LT265/70R17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Was thinking of going to 275, but glad I stayed with stock size, the ridge grapplers look perfect in the 265.....
