Light Bar deal for anyone looking for one

I would never use this stuff in street driving… All my use with a light bar has been off-road, primarily in desert conditions. It can get pretty dusty if there are good winds, or if you are following someone.

The amount of glare in some of those conditions is almost unbearable, especially if its mounted on the roof. Bumper mounted has been the absolute best for me in terms of viewing comfort and performance.

I can absolutely attest to the “less is more” argument. The color temperature surprisingly plays a big role in this too… I much prefer a yellow fog color over a bright white, at least to my eyes, it helps a lot with contrast.

I would still love to own a nice Baja Designs bar, really curious what it would be like to drive with something like that, but I really don’t use it enough to blow a lot of coin on this stuff.

Well, not a whole lot of Desert here in Ohio! I had no intent to buy/install a light bar at all, but for the price I went for it.

I too would prefer yellow (which is what I was thinking for the "ditch light" spots). I may try some yellow film on this light bar to achieve that look and see if it might be easier on the eyes because the crisp LED cool white isn't a very friendly color to the eyes.

I have used photography grade filter/gels in the past on my flashlights… I don’t see why it would not work on a lightbar if you can find a decent way to install it.

On this one I just bought film from Amazon and laid it down on the lens to block the light. It looks good but we'll see how it holds up over time. Again though, from a cost standpoint, I'm not trying to invest more than the cost of the whole setup in a film to change the light color, haha.

Jumping in on the conversation here a bit late but have you thought about plexiglass?

Not suggesting this in particular as the cost could be prohibitive but something like this and just add this in front of the light bar if the light bar is in the bumper and hidden.

I’m saving that link for myself haha… I didn’t know about that company, seems very useful for other projects that I might have later on.

That’s a cool idea… colored plexi might work. The main thing about changing the color of the light is the color temperature and the spectrum of light because not all yellow is the right yellow. I’m sure it would all help, but there is a more advanced conversation behind color temp. Either way, I would try it if it didn't cost too much.

Does anyone know what baja designs is using? I know going from white to yellow isn’t a LED emitter change, it’s a lens chance. Not sure if that lenses is glass or plastic, but I would be curious to get one and measure it with this.
