Light Bar Install Price

I just spoke to a local 4X4 place to get a quote on install a 30" light bar on the front of my 2015. I just want someone to do the wiring. I don't want to fool with it. They quoted $245. This seems exponentially high to me. Am I wrong?

Also, is it possible to wire the light bar so it only comes on when the high beams are on... so when I move the stalk on the steering column for the high beams the light bar would also turn off and on.

if that includes the light bar maybe.... it's a couple wires and minimal effort... DIY

custom wiring is something a lot of shops don't like to do, if you have somewhere near you that does car audio/security that has a good reputation they can probably wire this for you for less

but honestly this would be incredibly easy for you to do yourself even if you have never done wiring before

The install is super easy. I don't have any wiring experience and was able to install and wire up a 30" led bar and ditch light using AOB switches. There are a tone of info on how to do it. Just search.

Also, I was going to post a reply on your other thread before it was closed. I have the opt7 30"led bar that I got from amazon. Super bright and pretty inexpensive.

Definitely an easy do it yourself. Depending on where you want to mount the light bar, its as easy as connecting the terminals to the battery and just running the wire.

If you go above the driver in front, you can run the wires down the windshield channel.

I just had a shop in central NJ install just the wiring hardness to a stealth behind the gill bar that I already had installed. They connected the harness to power and ran the wires through the firewall to a rocker switch . They charged $100. Hope that helps.

Doing the project is sooooooooo easy.

You get two things:
1) Satisfaction of doing it yourself!
2) Money in your pocket for the next mod!

Buy a pre made Rigid harness, follow diagram online. Don't overthink it. black to negative, Red to positive. Bammmmm. Can't post a snap shot of harness but it will save you a lot of time. You can snip off the deustch plug ends and solder or twist together if u don't have a Rigid lamp. But if you want to connect it into the ignition where it won't turn on if the vehicle is off then that's another story. But connecting to the battery, grounding relay anywhere bare metal, pushing harness wire through firewall hole, drilling a hole for included cherry rocker switch, pullin back panel on driver side and clean up. Not in order. Enjoy. More than not you will notice if you left the light bar on. You will learn more about your truck by doing it yourself. It may be a convenience to set it up when the high beams go on but unless your the only one who uses it someone else might not be as cautious when and where to use it. a 30" is fking bright so beware how u use it and who's on the other end.

I really want to add a light bar to my rig but have never done anything electrical before. After reading all the comments on here about "if I can do it so can you." It gives me some hope that maybe I can do it.

For a little more power, just plug the cable into the inverter in the back:


If you have a TRD Bro, this is a common setup. Since money wasn't an issue for the purchase of the truck, cost of installation is negligible:

$245 does not sound like a lot if the shop is reputable. They are in business to make a profit and keep the doors open. It's fairly standard for brick and mortar shops to operate at $80-$120 per hour labor, so they probably base it on 2-3 hours of time plus materials. And if they don't they are probably selling themselves short. So if you value your time or are not comfortable just have it done.

Or, if you feel like it's a project you can tackle then go for it. You might actually enjoy it and you'll feel rewarded and more connected to your truck. Every DIYer on here started somewhere.

AOB fits really well in the stock locations.

I mounted my bar behind my grill and then paid a shop to do the electrical. Cost about $100 using my harness and switch. I read and re-read the very well written how to's on here but still lacked the confidence to do it myself!

Still seems high but a smart move if you didn't feel comfy doing it. Although, you would have been surprised how easy it would have been.

Complex wiring I still have a friend over to help.

I just did this same install myself last week. It took me about an hour(granted im pretty handy) but if you have the will it shouldn't take you much longer. All I had was the light bar so I went to OReillys and picked up a spool of 14g wire, a relay and a rocker switch.

^^^I did put the grill back in.
