Light bar install

Now for the bad side of having a SW bumper!

Had a hard time to install a light bar on the bumper due to it doesn't protrude out much from the grill. Part my fault due to, didn't go into the spects of depth before purchase. Hell I see everyone else puts them on there, why not.

Had to do a hack job to the grill to be able to open and close the hood without hitting the bar. So just a warning for those that want to do this with a SW bumper on a gen4.







Just might have to get creative with some bondo, at least you can't tell when the hood is closed.

on top of the hoop would drive me crazy, do you mean hanging down? I guess U bolts?

I kinda was considering that since I turn the brackets inward, would have fit there even bolting on since it would have been before the bend.
Just would have had to zip tie the wire to the bar also.

Another alternative...

maybe put a sheet metal "shelf" on the front of the bumper to mount the light bar. That would let you push the bar forward far enough to clear the hood. It wouldn't have to be that big, maybe no more than 3 - 4" deep. If you really wanted to be fancy you could have tabs welded onto the top of the bumper to mount the light bar, again that would let you push it forward far enough to clear the hood.

OTOH, you trimmed a part of the hood that's not visible anyway, so not a big deal.

would be nice to hang it from the tube instead. then drill a hole on the bottom of the tube and feed the wire inside of the tube for a real stealth install. i would have drilled a 1/2" hole then put a rubber grommit on it so that it looks like it belonged there and fished the wire down.

I like where your going with that idea, but, prefer it to sit on the flat part and the bolts to be more hidden.

I still might do the grommet thing in the top, since I don't like having all that excessive wire for the harness they send.

As far as the grill, little bondo and shaping and another rattle can should take care of that, besides I didn't buy this ride to look pretty going over the summit. As soon as the luster wears off and dents become to much, I for see a rattle can party happening, maybe cameo color.

Had to cut my grille similarly to fit a light bar on my demello bumper. whatever it takes right?

I had a similar issue when trying to put my light bar on, decided to weld some small tabs hanging down from the center hoop with a hole in each one. Then just bolted the lightbar to the tabs. I dont know if youre willing to do that, but it worked great, and no more hood hitting the lightbar.
