Lights on 2015 T4R

Hey folks,

I tried doing some searching, but I am not having much luck. Are there pictures around of the 2015 T4R at night? I am curious to see the light setup in action. The reason I am looking for some is that I want to see how effective the projectors are at night. It's not super clear on the Toyota website either, as to the type of output and lighting on the 2015s. I assume they're halogens? Any LED, or HID on any of the trims?... I kind of doubt it, based on their history, but I thought I would ask...

look for 2014 pics, nothing has changed concerning the lighting. nothing has really changed at all, maybe a under hood pad and i think the black is a different color code.

I've seen a few smaller LED lighting mods out there, so that may make the list. And KB Car Stuff makes a helluva HID kid for projectors without a retrofit. I had some on my 2007 SE, and they were really nice...

I have all interior led bulbs, puddle lamps, license plate lights, and TRS XB35 Hid's. I ordered all my Led's from a single ebay seller that had the kelvin rating listed (wanted 6k, nothing blue) all for under 20 bucks. The TRS XB bulbs have the ground wire on the bottom so it will minimize glare. The cutoff is actually really good even with HID's, no matter what the hater's say. The HID upgrade thread proves it.

There is glare and and you still end up with a fuzzy cutoff. A proper retrofit gets you color and performance

Where's this build thread for HIDs you were referencing? I'd be curious on the costs, and I would love to see the cutoff lines after the install. Thanks.

This is a big problem for SUVs because they often catch cars under the cutoff. Projectors designed for HIDs spread the light more evenly along the cutoff and to the sides where it is usefull and less blinding to other drivers.

Comparing it to HIDs in other halogens projectors doesn't even make sense, thats like comparing a 4runner to a wrx and saying the 4runner is amazing offroad. You should be comparing it to other HID projectors and compared to HID projectors it performs poorly. You've decided for yourself where the arbitrary acceptable limit is that has no basis in NHTSA specs. But if you can justify to yourself that putting others at risk so you can save a buck, then go right ahead. I've seen 2014+ 4runners with HIDs in person on the road and there is definite glare and a hotspot.

Ppl are going to justify what they do - period. It's no different than Duratracs on DDs. I'm sold on proper HID retrofits, but that's my choice and my money. But convincing others? .... I gave up.

Why would i compare it to HID projectors when thats not what it is? I'm comparing it to other vehicles with PNP kits in halogen projectors, which is exactly what it is.

I have a quality pnp kit in my 2014, the cutoff can clearly be seen and it does not produce excessive glare. Im perfectly happy with my kit and have had no complaints from other drivers flashing their lights at me.

You want to crap on every HID thread, but there's always one in every forum. I guess we've found ours.

Nobody said these are equal to hid projectors or don't do a full retrofit, it is a much better light.....at a much higher cost. If someone wants to retrofit im all for it, i think the painted headlights and upgraded projectors look AWESOME. But i'm not tearing apart my 3 month old lights to cut on and put in my oven.
