4th gen better feeling braking even more when running the a/c, for some reason the 5th gen for some reason when using the a/c really takes from the braking, better cornering, far better seats the 5th gen seem to stiff and to short in the ass and legs area. TOO BOXY I hate the asian joke on americas with the BIG ugly knobs. i really stated hating the plastic look of the dash after making the mistake of buying it
The side to side roll SUCKs when cornering. I could go on but the 4th gen is my go to 4runner for everything I guess thats why my 2011 has under 15k and sits in the garage rarely used while my 4th gen is coming up on 400k
About the only few things I can say are good about the 5th gen are its has an great space in the back and it seems to do better in deep snow. It will continue to sit in the garage and get its weekly drive while the 4th get and the new jeep i just purchased on new years eve get beat on.

You are correct Sir.:flypig: and you should see how clean the under carriage and frame is, not any sign of rust and zero mud. It looks like it did when it was built in Japan. Nice and new. WoW!!! What more can i post?

My '06 Limited has 109,000. I won't be buying a 5th gen. I'd like to drive mine for a few more years and see what the 6th gen has to offer. Assuming it's still BOF and not absolutely hideous, I will buy one.
No clue what interior mirrors you all are talking about! I guess the limited doesn't have them.

I sat inside of a 5th gen. It was very nice. A lot of bells and whistles especially the ease of 3rd row seat and the pull out tray in the back. I would look at it a lot closer if it had a V8. I've had my 03 4runner since end of 2002 and it has 212K miles. It's a beast and will be driving it FOREVER!!!!

I will say, the KDSS made a HUGE improvement with body roll with my 2015 TEP. It cost a fair amount, but you got the best of both worlds stock.
Still, if I had to do it all over again, I would skip the KDSS and hold out for 36 months to let the warranty expire. At that time, I would have just replaced the suspension with something I liked better that stiffened it up in the corners. The SR5 was much easier to work on over the trail with KDSS, and if you ever have to work on the KDSS it costs an arm and a leg...
126K miles and original X-REAS suspension. It's not leaking, so I assume it's still working fine. I do have FJ springs to replace the originals if/when I get around to it.
For the original question: I like the 2014 facelift. However, I really like not having a car payment (on this vehicle at least). I also like having an older car I don't have to stress over every little cosmetic issue. I figure I'm keeping this until it's totalled.

I like the smaller size of the 4th. Everything has just gotten to big these days. I'm going to drive the wheels off my 4Runner then I'm going to buy a Tacoma in 5-10 years. My runner has 148K on it. Put 18K on it in 9 months of commuting. I also love how great it is off road, it's the perfect combo on road/off road. I adore it and don't miss my 05 Silverado I traded in on it.

I have an 03 and a 12. I like both. The 12 is a limited and has better on road manners (less body roll) and better brakes. Feels a little underpowered. Leather seems more durable.
03 is a v8. More quiet than the v6 in my 12, even with 100k more miles. More power, roof box works better (fin on 12 scrapes box).
Both are great cars. I had a 2013 Tundra, and you could tell the build quality was not nearly as good. Next car is either a next gen 4runner or a gx460.

Mine wasn't leaking either but at 100k had it replaced with 5100's and FJ coils and the difference was night and day. Even though they weren't leaking it's obvious now that they were completely shot. I just didn't know it until I drove it with new shocks.
im in the same boat as many, i did not like the 5th gen w/o the V8...the salesman sitting next to me in the passenger seat on the test drive kept trying to sell me that the performance was the same as the V8...i recall specifically putting my foot to the floor, and turning my head to face him as the car accelerated, and i told him - "you're nuts if you think this is as quick as the V8"...he was turning white so i picked my foot up and went back to the dealership...not worth the 40k IMO w/o the V8. I had hoped they would put the tundra engine into the TRD Pro but no such luck...
as for xreas, all 4 shocks are soft so im gearing up to replace it, going w Bilstein 6112s up front and 5100's in back. will wait for airbags to fail, then put coils on.

Yeah, there was a thread earlier with someone asking to drive/ride in a 4th gen with the swap. Nothing ever came of it. I would have to have some seat time before I rip out something I think is working fine.
5th gen question: how big is the A-Pillar? Our rental Cadillac SRX has a huge A-pillar, and it seems like it would be an issue with visibility. Even my wife mentioned something about how it's hard to see forward. I like the thinner A-pillar of the 4Runner.

I'm about o join the 4th gen family after 18 years & 325,000 miles (525,000 kms) on it.
having said that, we all know that it's tough to beat the reliability and while I like the appointments of the 5th, it's just too damn big for me and there's no way a highlander, which is bigger than my 3rd gen is going to do.
The 5th gen are nice but a little to "Hummerish" with it's lines and angles.
To each his own. You know if you bought it, you'll enjoy it.
