Drove 3,038 miles to get this installed. Think it turned out pretty good. Don't want to add a light bar yet because I am not sure about cooling. Winch is back at home so I have another couple weeks and 3,038 miles to go

Put on the TRD pro roof rack today. One step closer to not looking like a soccer mom!
Any whistling or howling on the highway? Been thinking about adding one to mine too...

It's Armageddon Armor from Southern Style Offroad. My dad and I fabbed up the sides to make it match the lines of the Limited bumper. You could do it with any bare metal hybrid bumper. I wasn't exactly sure how much modifying it would take to make it work so I bought the weld it yourself kit (would recommend anyway if you know how to weld. The one pre-welded piece they sent is probably structurally fine but the welds were hideous) with the intention of tacking it together and then seeing where I could cut to get the best look. It ended up being welded up almost exactly like it should and then the two sides added after that.
One other advantage on this is that the plastic bumper and the metal bumper can be removed independently of each other. I think the standard hybrid bumpers overlap the top of the plastic enough that the metal bumper has to come off to take the plastic one off
Looks great! How much front/rear lift did you do? My 2019 Limited is stock currently and I would like to get a bit of a lift just because I like the look. I'm thinking a 2" front and 1" rear but I called a shop near me and they can only get the kit for 3" and 2". I didn't ask yet if I can provide the kit or not.

Curious to hear from those of you who replaced the X-REAS... what did you replace with and why? Or, I wonder if anyone else is contemplating swapping the suspension? Yes, I scanned this thread and many others before posting but everyone has a different take/opinion on suspension, and I have no desire to do a complete "overland" build just so I can drive to get groceries, go to Home Depot, take mountain trips on dirt roads and hit a few service roads for fishing in the summer.
I only have 13k miles so I will ride out the factory warranty, but it's becoming clearer to me that ironically the Limited 4Runners have the worst ride quality, of course due to X-REAS. I know the payoff is less bodyroll in corners giving it a more stable feel, but it's odd to me that a 4,800lb SUV rides so choppy as soon as the pavement breaks.
When I had my 2016 Limited, I ditched the stock 20s and ran KO2s on Sequoia wheels for 20k miles and could not understand why everyone loved them so much when they felt like shit for me under perfect tire pressure, rotating every 5k, etc. Now that I have been in a few SR5s and even a Pro, it's kinda crazy how much nicer they ride. Yes, I know they have more body roll and we don't. In my 2019, I sold the KO2s and went to Yokohama Geolandar G015s (still 17"s) and have loved this tire... the ride is much better, but I still feel like it's the suspension that breaks up and gets harsh at the slightest imperfection, crack or speed bump.
If I was to switch out the suspension down the line, it would be to something conservative and likely just to level out the front, replace X-REAS and improve ride quality. The ride quality of the TRD Pro with the Fox shocks is very, very appealing.

Ive been following this thread and reading the comments on the X-REAS. Here’s my take: X-Reas seems to be a hydraulic sway bar system. Sway bars reduce body roll at the expense of this jitter we experience. I have not replaced my stock 20s, but I suspect adding more weight at the corners compounds the effect of a sway bar; transferring energy from one side of the vehicle to the other, causing a shimmy on uneven surfaces. Here’s my guess: if you want to keep X-Reas, its probably best to look into reducing the unsprung weight. Increasing it actually makes it ride like hell, and likely wears it out more quickly. Im on my second limited, and having kept the stock wheels/tires the whole time I’ve been pretty happy with the ride for the most part. I came from a Tacoma with spacer lifts, which was just shit in terms of ride quality. My experience is limited to the snowy wintery roads of of Salt Lake City, Utah, and the sandy gravelly roads of northwestern Wisconsin, and driving the across the country spanning the two. Anyway thanks for sharing your experience!

I've been thinking about the same on replacing my XREAS. I searched but didn't find anyone in the 5th gen section with this system. Anyone have experience on what to expect with replacing XREAS with ADS and any recommendations on what kind of kit get? Also, are these rebuildable? Thanks!

Not sure who to quote but tons of us have replaced the XREAS. Mine started to seep around 100k miles so I ripped it out and replaced it with Eibach pro truck shocks, Wheelers T1 front coil and OME 2895E rear coil. Good for 2.5” front and 2” rear. I think the ride is far superior with less nose dive. Great on road and perfect for the off-roading I do. All said it took about 4 hours to rip off XREAS and install new suspension.

Give Dave Gutwillig from Brave Motorsports a call and tell him Ronald Major sent you. His shop is over off Steffani rd and Clay on the west side in Spring Branch. He runs ADS on his 4400 car, Raptor, Wildcat, etc. He will have the answers you're looking for. I ran 2.5x14 ADS on my last rear steer JHF chassis.

Not sure if you're concerned about the lights cooling or the engine. My supercharger intercooler radiator is in front of the stock radiator and I have not had any cooling problems in 100 degree plus temps at any speed. Hope this helps.

I'm new here! Got my 2012 limited 4runner stock around 2 years ago since then I've upgraded the the wheels/tires and most recently I put on a CBI Offroad bumper and Smittybilt winch. Did all mods with the help of a buddy.
The next thing I want to do is upgrade the suspension. I have ICON UCAs and ARB OME springs in the cart; 2885 for the front and 2889 for the rear: both are 3in lift medium duty.
My question is what kind shocks can I run with the Oldman emu springs and should I do less than a 3inch lift for the rear springs, as I see most people on here doing that, I was curious what the reason was?

I was worried about the engine cooling. I know the SR5/TRD models keep the full grille part of the front but I ended up losing the bottom part of the Limited grille and didn't know how much that would affect cooling. Your intercooler still let's air through though right? I was thinking that a winch and light bar would block too much.

Replaced my Xreas after 60k. At my shops recommendation I went with the toytec boss suspension. Love it, wish I had done it sooner, it's better in every way.

slightly but only if its dead quiet in the car, driving into 15-20 mph wind going 70+ mph on the highway. other wise it just ads 5HP and 20 cool points lol

You may have a point with the bumper and light bar. Not sure how hot it gets in North Bergen, but I have found that my Toyotas seem to have a pin on the temp gauge just before half way towards hot. LOL! I've only had one over heat. My '88 Cressida. My fault.
BTW, I don't think there is any difference between a Night Shade and a Limited. Could be wrong, though. HAH! That said, I'd go for it, and good luck.
Anyone know if the rocker trim and front mudflaps are different between the SR5/TRD trim and TE trim? I have a 2014 Limited and I took off the rocker panel off to install the new NFab Trailsliders. It doesnt look too bad with the piece of the body exposed but I want to cover it up with the same cladding as the TRD/SR5 versions have. I have the TE P/Ns but I cant determine from the images on the local dealer site if I have the right ones for the SR5/TRD trim.
I'm going off of 2nd Chance's build as a guide but he only posted the P/Ns for the front bumper swap.

Im at 70k with XREAS. I don't hate it. I'm looking at the Dobinson twin tubes as the eventual replacement. Their basic, high-quality comfort ride shock. Hope to keep Limited springs, maybe add the 1/2 lift spacer on the front while I'm at it.
Sure would like the TRD/Fox shocks if possible. I would pay more for those. Keep an eye on eBay for take offs.
