Limited Edition Mod Thread

Mostly stock for right now. I have FX Pro wheels ordered via Dustin (Gloss gunmetal) and Diode Dynamics HID kits (4th vehicle using them... very happy with them).

Here it is on the day I picked it up.

Oh... and this little mod :D

TRD grill and vinyl wrap
This is awesome. I went to get a quote to have the chrome bumper wrapped aswell and they convinced me that due to the sharp, aggressive edges, the wrap would likely not hold over time. Let us know how it holds up because it looks gooooooood.

Yeah, I was thinking like you...how long will it last? I must say I am impressed with this guys work. He was even willing to do the handles but I did not want to push it yet. This winter with snow and salt will be a good test.

What did you do to black out the chrome?

3m vinyl from a shop that specialized in it. Was about $350 for most of the chrome. Not sure what I want to do with the roof rack yet, so left that. I was worried the handles would not last so left those for now.

How does the ride compare to stock? Love the look of your truck a lot.

MUCH better. While in terms of handling the RGs and XREAS combo was surprisingly decent, the ride was very uncomfortable in slow traffic and not so great off-road. The new set up is not only a lot more comfortable over potholes, etc. in traffic, but it is miles better off-road. I can carry much more speed and I no longer crash into the bump stops over certain obstacles like I did in the past. I'm also pleasantly surprised to say that I really didnt lose much in terms of handling on road; there really isnt any more body roll even with the lift. There is, however, a bit more nose dive and now i've noticed a bit of a nose lift under heavy acceleration (which i enjoy).

Auto running boards

I’m looking to get Limited soon and the truck has the auto running boards? What is your thoughts on the auto running boards? Do you like them or will they eventually fail? I like the thought since it’s gives the truck a clean look and Mrs. likes it but I’m on the fence. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I know where I live in the NE we get pretty bad road salt and chemicals during the winter. I know a few people with those boards (on other vehicles) that have issues after a few years with them locking up. Especially in deep snow.

Our 14 LE has the chrome boards and with the rocker panel you only have maybe 2-3 inches to put your toes on and get into the truck. On my 18 LE, I removed the LE rockers and put the trail rockers with the little molding front cap and new mud flaps on with the trail running boards. Much nicer step into the truck and I like how the black offset on the silver truck.

Thanks for you me input, I’d imagine since I’m in this thread most people would rip them off for aftermarket sliders. Awesome dog btw. How do you like the S/C? Worth the money?

Thank you.

Agree on the sliders. My plan next year is to remove the XREAS system. Most of the sliders I want (shockworks or RCI) interfere with the hard lines for XREAS. Once removed...no issues with sliders. In the interim the boards were not terribly expensive and will serve their purpose and the rockers were required for the sliders. One other note...the auto boards do give a nice step into the truck, but do not protect the doors in parking lots as sliders (or the boards I installed) do. Need to pace myself :)

I plan on writing up my thoughts in the S/C thread when I hit 1K miles. Should be there next month. Quick take on it.. feels like our 4th gen V8 limited...that's a good thing to me.
