Stupid, and I mean stupid PhotoBucket unlinked all pics posted on forums. It's causing a major headache and it ridiculous and is effecting millions of pictures all over. All the pics in the first page of this thread are broken. Hopefully they come to their senses soon and turn it back ON! They want $399 a year now for subscription. Insane!

Anyone know of a better image hosting site? Ill move the pics over and redo the post. Hold that thought Photobucket seems to have lost them entirely, going to have to dig them up from the drives.....

The flare pads are not all that expensive considering all the work rest goes into this project. For the tape that is not seen on the doors, you can use a 1/8 3M body panel tape. For the bumper flares, you can buy an extra front fender pad and cut to size.
You don't have to buy the clips from Toyota to get a quality product. Even though my 97 had red and blue clips, my 96 had all yellow and white clips. I used ClipsAndFasteners.com - Automotive Retainers,Clips and Fasteners They also have an Amazon account with prime shipping.
For broken clip brackets on the flare itself, use JB Weld plastic epoxy after cleaning and scuffing the area to be fixed.
Clean both sides of the flare. The pads/tape won't stick to dirt. A spray bottle with dish soap and a small nylon bristled brush works great.
Remove all of the previous pad/tape unless you want it to buldge. Op had a different result.
For rivets, I used these from Amazon.

A heat gun will work to remove the old pad/tape from the panel. Don't burn your paint.
I washed and clay bared (no wax) the areas where the panels go.
Place all hardware in a container to easily find it later.
I would confirm your choice of paint allows for some flex. I used Krylon.

I know this is a old thread but...
Hey guys, new to the forum and just bought a 2001 t4r sr5 yesterday. I found a 98 limited that’s in great shape in the local junk yard and was curious if the fender flares on it will go on my 01? I did some searching but a little unsure of the compatibility still.

You can get them to fit, but it will be a PITA. The Limited cladding requires holes to mount. I guess you could just do some sort of double-sided tape, but not sure how secure that would be. If you want the wider flares, you'll want to find the SR5/Sport flares for the easiest swap.

Probably. If you have the little chrome flares you might have some screw holes under the rim of the arch on the front. It will screw on fine. Some don't have this and it is a lot more difficult. The rear flares area bit trickier but can be affixed the same way. The trickiest part will be the flare that goes on the back door as there is nothing there to screw it to, you will need 2 sided 3M tape. Also the cladding runs the length of that door and the front door so if you want that then you will have to stick both of those pieces on.
My cladding (on a 2000 limited) is coming loose on my passenger rear door. I just need a few of the clips (white on mine). They're the ones along the top of the curve over the rear wheel-well. I originally said they looked more like the ones that are actually for 2003-on 4Runners. They actually look most like the white 17481 clips said to be for Previas. Of the 2 mentioned in the write up, they look more like the red ones. Can someone confirm this?
I'm planning on just replacing the ones I can get to and replacing as is. More extensive upgrades in the future.

great post, just got a 96 and fender flares are a question of mine. Mine are gone and guy tried to fill with bond, they crack by now and are falling in. Curios if complete aftermarket ones are less expensive over time (ill break them some how) and easier to install as well
