Limited gauges

I do not have the green light bulb at all. I do have the blue light when the high beams are on. I know Lexus put this green light bulb on all of their cars because you cannot tell if the headlights are on due to the dashboard always being lit up.

Ok Woodbert...

I'm super jealous of your gauges! Those look awesome...like a Lexus. Is the rest of your dash (ie radio, AC controls etc) amber or blue? Have a picture?

Also someone commented that their SR5/Sport is the same as the Limited. They are very similar minus the red dot, however if you look at our gauges during the night you will see we have what appear to be square notches around the guages. The Limiteds (from what I can see) don't have that. :)

A picture of the RED DOT

Kind of fuzzy, I didn't spend any time changing the camera settings.

Another

The light from the lamp follows the plastic needle and shoots out the end. Actually, now that I think about it, I don't ever notice it when driving. It's only because of this thread that I thought of it.

I had to laugh when I saw this thread. That was one of the things I wished my sport had. I wonder what it would cost to change the needles out?

eBay I would guess

I have already seen a couple totalled 4runners on eBay in the past couple months. I wondered if the sellers wouldn't mind parting out certain pieces.

Possible to swtich?

Yeah I am digging this thread up. Is there anyway to get that Japanese gauge cluster?? In mph of course.. or maybe even just the Limited gauge cluster put into my Sport?? Would it be worth it??

Or does anyone know of an aftermarket indiglo option yet?

Now I wonder

Is the red source of lighting in the Limited gage cluster simply one source LED traveling throught light pipes, or is it many LED's?? If it's a source LED, it shoulddn't be overly difficult to remove and solder in a new super blue LED. I think Sylvania makes them now. I will have to check the catalogs at work today.

That bright blue cluster looks OK, at least it's not that "indiglo" look, but I still like the amber guages much better. The amber lighting looks much better in reality than in the photos, obviously, and it's just... different! Everyone seems to want that bright blue "indiglo" look and I just don't know why... I think it looks like a cheap toy. People I know who have them say they're easier to read, but I don't agree at all.

I know this is digging up an old post, but I am wondering if anyone who doesn't have the Limited, if they have swapped the guage cluster over. This or is it possible to add the illuminated instrument needles to a non-Limited model. Thanks.

No, its not possible. I asked my dealer and he said I would have to switch out the entire cluster assembly. I dont remember the price but it was pretty expensive.
