Liquid Moly Engine Oil

Ok, I am the guy that jumped off the bridge and tried the Liquid Moly Ceratec (Waiting for Little Caesar to comment....)

I recently used the Liquid Moly Engine oil in the 5W30. (10-14KK interval oil)

I have 4,236 miles on the rig since the LM Engine oil swapover (from Mobil1) and guess what? The color of my engine oil on the dipstick has returned to a clear, light golden brown color - just like in the bottle when it is new..... It is no longer the greyish/darkish black I had with Mobil1. (NO - I do not work for Liquid Moly!)

I was just surprised when I checked the dipstick. The oil almost looks new - like I changed it yesterday........Can this be true????

I used their 75w90 all around in my 2000, have used their oils for years in my Mercedes and have nothing but good things to say about their stuff, aside from the price of course. Still, when I used Mobil 1 0w40 in the Mercedes V8 it would burn about .5-1qt during the 10k interval, but with the LM stuff it doesn't burn a drop, and the Blackstone came back with slightly more favorable wear indicators vs the M1. I still use the Costco M1 5w30 in both 4runners, mostly due to price and convenience, but I'd use LM in my crankcase without a second thought.

To coincide with what JEL is stating, Liquid Moly is great oil, and the two additives I have used have been great stuff, though Bama's somewhat over the hill praise for Ceratec left him open for a little ribbing from me. But he does want to get the most life out of his 4runner, just as I want to.

So as others have suggested send a sample to Blackstone, pay extra for the TBN # and post the results, which I imagine will be stellar. Oil color may not be an indicator of its full utility , though I will wager that IMHO the cleaner the oil, like that of brake fluid, the more utility it retains to be able to lubricate all those moving parts.
