Little help (hood related)...

Hi guys - my father has a 2011 Salsa red 4Runner. He is wanting to get the trail edition hood so he can have the scoop (doesn't everyone want it?!). We've sourced parts at a few local dealers and all are wanting an arm and a leg. Also we've done craigslist and eBay searches but haven't turn up much. We did find a hood relatively inexpensive at a dealer in Chicago, but they were not willing to ship it to Atlanta.

Any of you guys have idea where we might be able to source one besides the dealer? We can get the scoop parts fairly cheap, but really after the hood itself. Color doesn't matter at all at this stage in the game.

I was going to post this in the WTB, but not sure if it really fits there. Mods please feel free to move it if you feel like it belongs there.

Didn't I read somewhere that the Trail Hood Scoop is a non-functional, stick on item that can be added to "any hood"?

Any decent body shop should be able to order/paint/install for less than $500 cause I'd the get there part for $175 then that leaves do room for paint and hanging cost (1-2 hours at most).

I advise you not to buy from Rockauto. I had nothing but headaches when I ordered through them, not sure how it is for everyone else.

Long story short, I had originally ordered a trail hood through rock auto, not only did they first ship it to the wrong address, the 2nd time it came around, this is how it was packaged.

Really? Who packs a hood like that? Yes its bent 90 degrees. Yes its both Rockauto and the carriers fault. I returned it and my buddy hooked me up through toyota and I finally got one.

Also if you do decide to buy the hood, it does not come with the scoop insert piece, you have to buy that separately.

Just my 2 cents.

That. Is. Horrible!!

I have bought one thing from them which was a 2" receiver hitch d-ring and it wouldn't fit. E-mailed them and they said my hitch must not be 2". It was not squared perfect to fit in the hitch, more like ovally squared which is why it didn't fit. Returned and got money back and never tried again.

i bought an oem trail hood and scoop insert from toyota and had it painted and installed for about $1200...
...on a side note I still have my stock SR5 hood with 80 miles on it if anyone wants to buy it...? its black.
