Load rating "E" tires, gots a problem Kuhmo SAT KL61

Got the tires switched out yesterday, at no cost. I offered to pay the labor, but they wouldn't accept my money. They're aired up to 40psi and I can tell an immediate difference. This is the ride I was looking for. Very comfortable. I am not crazy about the "stylish" sidewalls, would prefer something more traditional, but these fit the budget and should be good in Tahoe snow. Driving up to Kirkwood tomorrow, so I'll have a pretty good idea of how they do on long distance drives by the end of the weekend.

I have a question. If the Es were at 55psi and these are at 40, that alone could account for the difference in ride. Did this whole scenario ever result in your being able to compare the Es and Cs at like pressure? (Just curious, the Cs are undoubtedly a more suitable choice)

I remember reading your review of the Firestone MT's. Do you think underinflation caused the ill effects leading to early replacement?

You could be right. I put in 35 psi for the Firestone MT (265/75/16). My OEM tire was 265/60/18...and factory recommendation is 32 psi. The official problem with the Firestones was that it was not "round" and thus could not be balanced right. Could overheat or underinflation cause this? I have no idea.

Well to be honest, once I aired the E tires down to 45 or so, I only drove on them for 5 miles before dropping the truck off at the tire shop. I did notice a slightly improved ride on them at that point, but they still behaved strange over any bumps cracks or bots dots in the road. These new ones feel great.

Yup, both sides. The only difference between sides is that I put the raised white outline letters inside.

Sounds good! Not much came up here or Google when I was searching for info prior to purchase. I've had good luck so far with the Kumhos on my MINI, so I figured what the heck. The AT KL78 gets good customer reviews on TR, I expect these will too.
