Longboard "Mount" "Carriers" for interior headliner

Hokay,

so having 2 longboards, 2 skateboards and then my "Truck" gear, there's no room for my costco runs
I started pondering about a ceiling rack for carrying the boards securely. I would remove the "ohshitgrabhandles" and use the rear coat hanger brackets for the mounting points. I didn't want to use a soft net because I didnt feel it was secure enough and it would have the grit side against the headliner.

Anyone seen anything or have any thoughts on mounting solutions?

Alternatively, maybe you could get a set of these and hang the boards from them:

I'm not saying the solutions you are looking at wouldn't work... but these might be a little more "stout." You could probably fab up something pretty easy to keep them up and out of the way, but these would have "other uses" for when you need to get additional gear that you might not get out of the options you are considering.

Cabelas makes a $20 cargo net that works for my wakesurf boards. Just swap out the hooks on the ceiling in back for some D rings and hook it to the grab handles on in front. See link below for more details.

This is the cheapest and easiest way to do it. Still plenty sturdy.

For the rear strap, I got some D-rings and screwed them into the rear most coat hooks. Then looped a sturdy tie down from d-ring to d-ring.

For the front strap, I just looped a tie down from the rear seats grab handle to grab handle.

My boards are shortboards.......the longest being 5'9". Not sure if a longboard would fit there and still give you enough head room, but it's worth a try.

That’s what reflective board bags and roof racks are for. Do you really want melted wax all over your headliner? Why are you taking your boards to Costco anyway?

That cross piece is new! didn't come across that. Definitely going to learn more about it.

Exactly why i'm searching for a mount to lock things down.

Just about anything that will strap it down between the trucks will do.

If money was no option I would ge the rango panel shelf. Get two industrial velcro straps or buckles, attach it to the bottom of that, with a rubber pad double sided to the mounting area for vibration/scratching. But, I have no business getting on a skateboard anymore, so w.e. :shrug:

I didnt include the foam or tie downs yet since this is still the rough concept.

I saw the tie downs behind the seat and figured I can remove the buckles and use the bolt mounting there in addition to the one where the retractable cover goes for a four point mounting structure that can handle the weight of all the boards.
It would be modular enough that I can tweak it for different width boards and make it taller etc for the final variant etc since 80/20 is easy enough to work with.

Nope! But now that I'm seeing it again I'm tempted to get back to work on it. Also I can see some changes in design I'd do to make it simpler and more functional
