Longest trip with your 4R?

The longest trip I've made in my runner was last month. Decided on a whim w/ a friend to drive from just east of Birmingham, AL to Pasadena, CA for the BCS National Championship game. Left Tuesday Jan 5th @ 10pm central and drove straight through on I-10 across MS, LA, 13hrs across TX, NM, AZ, then to LA. Got there at 6am (pacific time) Thurs the 7....just in time to get showers and meet up with my friends before getting my ticket to the game and tailgating all day. Did tourist-y stuff on Friday and left LA at 10pm (pacific) and drove straight back along I-40 through CA, AZ, NM, TX, OK, AR, TN, MS, and back to AL. Got home at 11am (central) Sunday morning. Just under 4,300 miles....in just a few short days with 2 of us alternating driving. Whew, won't be doing that again.

Lol, I live on an island so my longest trip was around 200 miles, give or take a few miles. Basically a roundtrip around the island.

Chicago to Seattle(2100 miles+-) in 36 Hours by myself a few days after buying mine,then a month later returning Seattle to Chicago by myself in 29 Hours.

Longest trip with my 4Runner also happened to be towing my car trailer. Went from Eastern Pennsylvania to Kalamazoo, Michigan and back. The trip was about 1,700 miles round trip. Had to stop every 2-3 hours for fuel. Pulling a loaded car trailer through the mountains of Western Pennsylvania then trying to keep up with the tractor trailers on the flat interstates of Ohio will do that. :naughty:

My longest trip in a 4Runner was 780 miles one way from Anchorage to Prudhoe Bay in Alaska. I crossed the Arctic Circle on my way up north and was in the middle of the wilderness. You can see pictures of the trip and information here:

The photo diary is only from Faibanks to Prudhoe Bay because it's the main part of the trip. That leg took 4 days round trip.

What a cool trip. Really nice pics, and the place looks amazing.

Thanks. I forgot to mention I also did a 200 mile detour to the Denali highway on my way back home. The 4Runner handled the trip really well, and I was quite happy with it. Here is a picture from the Denali highway.

I checked out your pics/story of your trip. Looks like a lot of fun. Too bad I'm so far away or maybe I'd do it some day.

BTW, it's funny that they named what looks more like a dirt trail the Dalton highway. No highways around here look like that!

Orlando, FL to Pittsburgh, PA about a week or two after getting it brand new.

The last serious relationship I had, or I should say, it was serious for her.
We went to my buddies house and on the way home, I told her "I don't think it going to work out between us."

It was 15 miles and about a 20 minute drive home...Yeah, that has to be the longest trip in my 4Runner. :wow:

Stl to DC, towing an enclosed uhaul trailer on the way there. 2000 total trip miles
Stl to Colorado 2 times usually about 2500 miles each trip
Stl to Minneapolis 3-4 times about 1500 miles each trip

Family vacation last summer (From Texas to Yellowstone) : 3600 miles, 21.6mpg average (I have a V8).
I think 4Runner is a best vehicle you can take on trip like that.

So far Lubbock, TX to Santa Fe, NM (~325mi one-way) is my longest roadtrip in the 4Runner. Can't wait to get it out and do a longer roadtrip with it!

I drove from Denver to S.F. in a blizzard the whole way from Denver til we got to about Elko, NV

and John, the mpgs are plenty good enough for 4runners to drive long distances.

and no one cares about your diesel VW that gets 70mpg... you cant fit 3 snowboards, gear/clothes/food and other stuff for 3 people for 2 weeks in a VW... and you cant drive a VW in a blizzard across 4 states in one night, so VW can kiss it! :rockthrow: :bravo:

Atlanta, Ga. to Anchorage, Alaska. Took about 10 days. Almost 5000 miles.
03 4Runner SR5 with a buddy and two dogs in early October with a little rain, snow and ice. It was a blast!

The 4runner isn't really the "long trip" car because of MPG but i did Ridgfield CT, to Ipswich MA, which was 200miles. I am pretty sure that "Shawnstcyr" will top everyone.

LOL! Abilene, Tx to Los Angeles, Ca. Multiple trips from central Texas to Minnesota then over to Wyoming and back down through Colorado to Texas again.

Uhmm... I just don't know what to say. If Matt Starr said it, it is BS. I can justify my trips because I drive nationwide for work. Kind of confusing to see our names in the same sentence LOL!

8,500 miles in my '95 over the summer. Roadtrip on the west side of the Mississippi. 18 day trip.

So far I've put 29,500 miles in the past 10 months on it. Gas is a killer, she averages 16 mpg. I guess living 5 hours away from home, and when I had a gf, she lived 7 hours away really adds up. I frequently visit people on the weekend too.
