I kinda fell in love with the TRD Tacoma crew cab , Silver , TRD package , 16" rims . Tempting since wife wants the 4R , but since there is a business venture coming up will have to put things on the back burner.......

That 12 volt power supply in the back of the box is an awsome idea. I would love to put one in the 4R back cargo area.

If you can, get it. You'll love it as much your 4R, though the biggest engine is the 4.0 V6, standard on the 4-door Double Cab trucks. I think the 4.0 has plenty of power for the truck, some guys over at ToyotaNation have hauled over 1800lbs in the bed before. The package you saw must be the TRD Off-Road package. I have a '05 PreRunner DC and I love that truck as much as the 4R, except no nav option on the Taco. A Double Cab equipped with the tow package is rated to tow more than a V6 4R, 6500 vs. 5000lbs.

I don't need anything so big. One of the reasons I love my 4R is that I can sneek down alot of trails big trucks can't go , plus more manuverable on & off road. I would never go any smaller than the 4R or Tacoma. I like to beat my trucks and off road as much as I can....

When did they discontinue the 12V rear cargo plug? My '04 SR5 has one.

I believe Falls is referring to the AC 110v outlet on the Tacoma, not a 12v cigarette lighter socket. Tacoma's have two 12v outlets up front; the X-Runner and TRD (Off-Road or Sport) models have the AC 110v outlet in the truck bed behind the taillight on the right side.

I'm sorry he is correct. I have the 12v power plug on back too. , but was referring to the AC 110v like in the Tacoma bed. That would come in so handy. I know its possible to do , but I'm leased so I don't want to do it. The told me it was an option but std. on the ltd.

I've decided to not by a Tacoma right now , waiting to see what my need will be in the future. Although I would have had both the 4R and Tacoma ...how cool ! but wanting to get a business up and running I did'nt want to spend the money.

Falls, i would also take a look at the Nissan Frontier. It bests the Tacoma in frame strength (fully boxed), full set of vented-disc brakes, and rear locker-ATRAC-on-at-same-time compatibility.
