Looking at this one

Hi all, I'm looking for a knock around truck since my girlfriend has taken over my 2001 t4r. I saw this on on Craigslist, but I'm concerned about the "goes into reverse in 4wd but weak when in 2wd". Has anyone heard of this? Thanks for the advice.

It means the transmission is going out, most likely. If the rest of the truck is in great shape, and you're willing to find a junkyard trans and do the swap yourself, offer him $1500 or so. It's probably not worth it to have a shop do the work though.

3500 is too much with a questionable trans IMO.
And just because a lot of money was put into it, he shouldn't expect to recoup it.

Thanks for the advice, I figured it needed tranny work but I was hoping for one of those easy solutions like a bad relay or something. Search continues.
