I wanted to wait until I had something official before posting back up here, but I'm in the middle of some tough decisions and want to get as much figured out as I can before pulling the trigger.
Well the short story is I'm buying a 4runner in the next week or two. I'm on the fence about how to start this one. Two options I'm looking at
1) Great condition 99-02, low miles, regear and possible s/c
2) Fair condition 99-02, high miles, 2UZ-FE swap
I have the benefit of a decent budget and DD while this thing is under the knife. The problem is finding a good place to work on this. I live near the beach and space for something like an engine swap just isn't going to work. The type of 3rd gen I purchase is really dependent on the direction I take this. So I wanted to see if anyone around these parts has either a spot at their house, garage, or shop that I can use as a house for the build.
I've never done an engine swap but I'm excited by the challenge. Ideally I'd be looking for someone with the space and know-how that I can partner with/pay to help me with this one. I live in Pacific Beach, so anywhere within reasonable driving distance would be awesome.
Either way I can't wait to join you guys again!
