Sorry not in Anchorage.
But in Hawaii, I take my 4R to either Goodyear or Firestone. For example, I just took my other car in to the stealer (altima) and they wanted $500 to replace my hub bearing. i called FS & GY and they both quoted me $300. We then called a neighborhood "mom & pop" mechanic and he quoted me $350.
Bottom line.....whenever parts are involved....stealer, FS, GY, etc. type shops would be better cuz they have greater access to parts. If it is just maintenance stuff, the neighborhood mechanic is good enough (as long as he doesnt have to order specific parts).
Keep in mind that mechanics at the stealer, FS, GY, etc. type shops are certified through Toyota, Nissan, etc. The neighborhood mechanic maybe certified, but IMHO they are not as frequently updated on the newer cars than the aforementioned mechanics. Especially with so much electronics on cars nowadays.
